My BX2350 (430 hrs) has intermittent power problems - usually when mowing and after warm , it looses power and revs and "lugs down" seems to be getting worse -

Ive changed both fuel filters with no relief. Im in process of draining fuel. I will also change out the fuel pump.

1) how do I get any potential trash / crud out of the fuel tank / lines after draining ?
2) any ideas - ? am I on the right track ?

What about trying an off the shelf Diesel Fuel System treatment? I haven't tried one on my BX but has fixed weird issues on my truck several times.

Two things, there could be something plugging the outlet to your fuel tank. I remember one person who had a large leaf that would plug his fuel tank, then float away and work for a while. Some BX owners have also found a rusty fuel sending unit that will plug the fuel filters quickly.

Another thing is there is a small lift pump on BX's. It almost looks like a small fuel filter but it metal instead. These have been know to fail. You should hear it clicking if you turn the key on but don't start it.

As a rule, the fuel filters on the BX series suck. A lot of people either swap a fuel filter set up from a B series Kubota on them or use a Racor brand fuel filter setup. I installed a Racor on mine and eliminated the rear fuel filter and it stopped mine from plugging up. Before I installed the Racor setup, mine would plug up but usually just in the winter.

Doesn't eliminating the rear fuel filter create a problem for the fuel pump?

it certainly is a "weird issue" youre right on that - I'll try the treatment when I replace the fuel this weekend - thanks

thanks Dave - Im putting in a new fuel pump this weekend - tell me a little more about the Racor brand filter setup? is there a model number you used?
