I just picked up a 5ft Bush hog brand bush hog. After hosing off 1/2 a foot of leaves where it had been sitting forever I found the data plate. It was just sitting there on the deck under all that mess, anyway any idea where it was originally attached? or what year a model SQ60R-4 would have been made? Thanks

Any pictures of the data plate and bushhog?

All the bushhog branded cutters I have and have owned, the data plate was always on the framework somewhere slightly behind and near the gearbox. Never on the deck itself.

Look along the two supports that run front to back, and along the tailwheel supports for a place the data plate would have been.

For a year....call bushhog and give them the serial #

SQ = "Squealer" series. (that's the economy model) 60 = 5' cutting width.

Don't know what the R-4 means, but a Bush-Hog dealer can tell you.

Makes sense with that puny tail wheel, my other Bush hog has a tail wheel made of what looks like strips of heavy conveyor belt. It's still built heavier than what you might find at the local farm store.

Could be my imagination but it looks like there's two rusty holes directly under the U-joint, behind the gear box as LD1 states.

After giving it the once over I found one of the steel rivets that held the Data tag, the other rivet has apparently rusted flush with the deck. It looks like it was mounted beside the gearbox and could have been read by standing to the left of the bush hog and facing the gearbox.WIN_20160708_175641 - Copy.JPG

r4 is the model number or something. I think it has to do with how heavy duty it is? My tag on my razorback it located on the truss support where the gearbox is mounted and it faces up. so not really the deck but that reinforced area of the deck I guess on the left hand side looking forward next to gear box.

just read all the posts and where you circled is exactly where mine is located

I think the Razorback is the standard duty and the squealer is more of a medium duty unit. The Squealer units have had a round back for about ten years so you have an older design. I don't know about this case, but sometimes older is better.

It looks exactly like my 18-year old Squealer, except it's missing the plastic guards over the gearbox and shaft.

We've got a 5' Squeeler just like it...
I've got to replace the front seal in the gearbox...
Little unit has run fine but it is not heavy duty...
I've beat the snot out of it...
The sides are gonna need reinforcement welded due to my abuse...
Don't use is much since I bought the Brown...
