BPL

Hey all,
thought this might be of interest to some. just got a news letter from my friendly electric co-op supplying power for the new house am building. they're in the process of providing BPL to their customer service area. BPL is Broadband over Power Lines. cool, eh? this is the first i've ever heard of that one. the company is IBEC www.ibec.net so it looks like there's isp hope for us country folk.

The idea has been around for a while. The stumbling block has been with the FCC as BPL can cause lots of interferance with radio communications.

I'd be wary of paying real money for any equipment until the status of BPL is a little more clear.

PP&L tried it for a while and just recently shut it down.
