Tractor
International 784
Hello,
This is my first post, but I have been searching the site regularly for information since I have recently bought my first tractor (used).
The tractor is an 84' International 784, box blade is a 7' bush hog MBX840. Now to the problem, I was using the box blade yesterday, turned the corner around the gate (not very fast) and the outermost ripper shank ran into my back left tire causing about a 2' long gash/tear in the tire...not gonna be able to patch that, just glad it did not cause damage to the BB or 3PH. After much cussing I began to wonder if there was supposed to be something that keeps the box from swinging that far to the side. Am I missing something? I have not located a new/used tire yet but I'm guessing that an 18.4-30 ag tire is not too cheap! Any help would be appreciated.

There should be limiting chains going to the 2 lower 3 point lift arms connection to the tractors rear axle area near the rear tire.

could you patch the tire and then put a tube in it? The patch would not have to be air tight, just holds everything together and keep the dirt on the outside. And there should be check chains or possibly adjust your top link to get a better height/angle.

First of all welcome.

Yes you should have side sway stabilizers to prevent that, usually they have a turn buckle to snug them up and keep things tight.

Here's some pics, see if these look like yours.

Patching the tire is out, the ripper tooth caught and ripped the tire about 2' around, looks like somebody unzipped the darn thing. I think I have a picture of the tire on my other computer. If so I'll put it on here as a what not to do with your new toys
First thing after putting a new tire on is going to be check chains, got it!
Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the pics. No, I do not have the stabilizer you are showing. I have the lift arms, and the support rod? that goes up, but not the stabilizer with turnbuckle you have.
I'm guessing they do the same thing as check chains like has been said.
Thanks again

Some have chains, some have turn buckles, some have sliding sway bars with holes for a stop pin. They are a must for just about all 3ph implements. Check with a dealer that knows your make tractor and get some before you tear anything else up.
