Box Scraper Box Blade Oops!

Took pics of the ruined tire and the tph set up. I don't see any type of stabilizer bar or chain to keep the box blade from swinging into the tire again. An easy enough fix, aside from the cost of this "learning experience". The worst part of this is that I'm in the middle of some projects that will have to wait until I get a new tire.

The cheap route would be to simply use chain. I have done this before and found it is not only several hundred dollars cheaper than going with OEM parts but just as effective.
I use a clevis with a screw pin on one end and adjust length for different implements by moving it a link or two either way. If I need the length to be somewhere in between two links, I give the chain a twist to take up the slack.

I was going to suggest to vulcanize the tire.....BUT that will not work with that rip!!!!! WOW

Kernopelli - That's just what I was thinking, the chain I already have, get a couple of quick links and I'll be much better off than before...like everyone else I'm working on a budget here
Good eye! the right lift arm is bent a bit but not enough to keep things from functioning proper, so it goes on the list
I have priced tires from everyone since I'm cheap enough to travel if the deal is sweet enough. A dealer 2-1/2 hours away took a new set of 18.4-30's off of a customer's new tractor before he even took it home, because he wanted R4's and a different wheel...he's going to sell me tires and wheels for $400 each, and my brother lives 30 minutes away so I'll visit him while I'm there.
I know I only ruined 1 tire, but I have always thought/heard that replacing only one tire would wear out the new one early...besides that will give me a spare for when I have more "learning" to do.
Not too sure if the wheels will fit my tractor, but I'm thinking - If it fits, great, new wheels and tires for cheaper than I can buy just tires. If the wheels don't mate up then I'll change the tires out and...anybody want to buy some new wheels

I just replaced the turn buckle and arm on one side. Seems that the turn buckle unscrewed and was lost then the remaining piece of arm became bent. I was lucky as the 3ph arm only chewed a few chunks out of the tire on one side.
I will be more proactive from now on.

Believe it or not, we patched a rear tire like this in the old days. We cut a larger piece out of an old tire and placed it inside the damaged area. Then we drilled holes and inserted round head bolts from the inside with washers and nuts on the outside. Of course the tire had to be removed from the wheel, bought a new tube and it was a LOT of work. It worked for a long time. No money in the old days.

When I read the original post, I couldn't help but think, "Put a boot on the inside and put in a tube". Then I saw the pictures. Man, Oh Man. At my ripe old age I thought that I'd seen or heard just about everything but I've never seen anything like that. What a mess. I'd have thought that the ripper would have laid against the tire and been kicked back out when it hit the first lug. Obviously not!!!! When that box blade swung over and hit the tire, it must have hit it HARD.
