I guess it's possible your diff lock is engaging under certain conditions. I have seen it where a slight turn to the right will engage it.

well it just started working again out of the blue when I was working in 14 inchs of snow opening an old road when it just worked /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I wish I knew for sure what was wrong with it as I have to haul a load of hay from 6 miles away and there is lots of hills with deep ditch's on the way . I just don't want to start down a hill and have the tractor head for the ditch /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Sounds like a piece of trash (for lack of a better term) may have passed through the steering box. I bought a used tractor years ago and had pretty much the same thing happen. Only it was brief. I'd be going along and couldn't steer. Then it would start back working. I changed the hyd.oil and filter and never had the problem again. That doesn't mean you have bad or dirty oil. It could be an O-ring or part of a seal that let go and got in the system too. Then when it went through the steering valve it caused the problem.
