We got our first hive and nuc today. Fortunately, wife got them into the hive before the rain started. It is coming down very heavy now and it was worse a bit ago. Power has been in and out.

I was only driving and I got stung. 🤬

I was working yesterday on my truck in the driveway. I heard a loud buzzing going over my head. There was a swarm heading for the barn. The sky was black with bees. Fortunately, they kept on going towards the tree line behind the barn.

Well, buckwheat drops about 1000 pounds of seed per acre. So, last years crop will be coming up for generations! I'll have a mix of buckwheat and phacelia this year. The green is buckwheat and the purple is phacelia seedlings.

Also, have a lot of activity at this trap I placed last week. Hard to tell if it's curiosity or something more at this point.

Well, I just joined this forum tonight (bought my first tractor this week), but I am a hobbyist beekeeper too, so I had to reply here.

Been keeping about 7 years, and currently have 16 colonies, all in 10F Langstroth equipment.

Welcome! We in Central Indiana had a glut of swarms a couple weeks back, and it looks like this week we will have the same. The social media posts for swarm removal have ticked up a bit and some of our girls seem to be getting ready to go as well.

Also, what tractor did you buy and what will it be used for?

LS MT225S (compact) with backhoe and FEL. It will be used for light forestry, driveway maintenance, snow plowing, and other property management/maintenance tasks on 10 acres in eastern WA.

Awesome. Congrats. We use ours almost exclusively to till and plant a couple acres of bee forage.
