My tractor starts well with the block heater plugged in but I would like to connect
a battery tender.Tractor sits out-side and calling for "more"-20*F temps.
My tractor battery only has the top round post;doesn't have the side connectors or
1/4" stud on top like my boat batteries.
I have been unable to find an "adapter" to connect the 1/4" rings to my battery.
I do have the clamps by that is not fun when cold/snowing.
I am sure someone makes one but I have had no luck finding it..
thanks

I just removed the nut put on the ring terminal and a washer

I connect the ring terminals to the post clamp bolts.

You could drill pilot hole in the lead top post about 1/2" deep and run a short self tapping screw in from the top to hold the ring connectors that came with the BT.

It's lead; a self-tapping screw wouldn't need a pilot hole :drink:

It's not necessary to connect at battery terminals. I connected 12 ga wire at terminal blocks to install cigarette lighters on my riding mower and tractors. Salvaged lighter plugs connect into the 2 prong plug on tenders. The lighter is handy for phone charger, work light and port for charging test.

I put a pig tail about 18" long off of the battery. Remove the nut(s) on the post terminals - put the ring ends on the bolt plus a washer - put the nut back on and tighten down. The pig tail is long enough to bring the battery tender connection out from under the engine compartment.

Makes connecting the battery tender super easy.

What type of connectors you using? I know the ones that come with them but say if I wanted to snip the alligator clips off and add my own. Something like a flat 2 pin ? Any recommendations?

All my tenders came with a flat 2 pin connector that alow's going back and forth between included clamps and rings. The same configuration plug is available where auto parts are sold. No snip or clip of tender wires required.

True, but you ain't got a lot of room for error in the top of a post. I like a small pilot hole when it needs to be 'just so'.

That's perfect. But I'd need the other side as well. Call it the male end? Depending how you look at it. My battery maintainers have the alligator clips that I'd have to cut off and put new ends on.

This is what I did. Permanently connected leads to the battery that came with the battery tender and installed a quick disconnect panel on my dash.

I also put a 12v male plug on my trickle charger and a 12v socket on my tractor. I can move the charger to anything that has a 12v hot socket and charge away.
