B3030 Rear Remotes

I added a single rear remote to my L3400, for which there is no kit available. So, it was either pay the dealer to source all the parts or do it myself. I learned a lot about hydraulics (at least this type) when I did the job, and it turned out reasonably well.

The factory kit is an excellent idea, everything is designed to fit (not to say it will) in the space you have available. The L3400 operator's station is pretty cramped for space, I had to get creative to make everything fit. At the end of the day, it cost me slightly less than half what I had been quoted for a turn-key install job. That's not to say it's the same job, I don't know how their's would have turned out, although I think it would have been comparable to mine.

I am going to add a single remote to my B3030. It looks like I need a B7306 ( First position base kit and first lever) and a B7304 (Double acting valve). Assuming I have the parts right, can someone that's knowledgeable tell me how difficult this is to install? The dealer will charge about $300. I do all the maintenance on everything I own but have never rebuilt an engine or transmission. Is this something I'm going to absolutely hate doing, or if I can read/follow directions is it reasonable todo on my own?

Second question...for a hydraulic top link is it as easy as ordering a toplink and hose kit from some place like AgriSupply? Anything else I need??

Just take your time and follow instructions. They are easy to follow , did my B7800 years ago with the Kubota kit, took my time about 3 hours. Just added a single to my freinds L3830 , took about 1.5 hours. As for the top link , I think agri-supply has the lowest price on the hydraulic top link, but hose length may vary , depending on location of couplers / valve .. Enjoy , this will make life easier............

I still have not installed the remotes, hope the do not go bad sitting in the shop... I have had a big project going on so I have not had the time to install them yet. Looking at the limited instructions and having worked on hydraulics before, I do not think it would be a big deal to install for anyone with some mechanical ability. I ordered my top and side link from Fit Right Hydraulics.

I have the factory remotes on my B3030 and also had trouble disconnecting them. The dealer (service tech) showed me an easy way to get them off. There's a recess on the back side (toward the tractor) of the female connector. A 7/8" open end wrench fits nicely and can be pulled toward you using the mounting plate as a fulcrum. The male end of the connector practically falls out; no need to push in/pull out.

Hope this helps.

I ordered the B7306 and B7304 today. I should be installing them this weekend. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the tip - will have to try that this weekend - the one side always hesitates more so..

Just another comment from someone that installed the factory remote kit on a B3030. The kit is totally complete, everything is high quality, the installation is easier than I thought, and it works great - looks great too. You can add a remote for less, but this is so much easier than figuring out all the individual parts and fabricating something to mount everything. I guess I felt like this was less than paying the dealer for the work so I saved some of the cost. Having a hydraulic top link is awesome!

Gary,

I have the rear remote (x2) kit installed on my B3030. The PB off the FEL is for an open circuit such as the BH. The rear remotes take off on the right side rear of the tractor. The biggest problem I have is the second set of remotes are very difficult to connect and disconnect. Kubota uses a push to connect and pull to disconnect.

The problem is more so with the lower set of remotes, the hydraulic lines are so short and so close together that they do not have the room to move back and forth to allow connecting and disconnecting.

I spent considerable time finding a hydraulic line routing solution but ended up having to angle the mount for the second remote in order to get the freedom of movement for the hydraulic lines.

A picture is worth a thousand words and if you find the same issue I did I would be happy to post a picture. On the other hand, if you find a solution, please post your rear remote mounting solution.
