Whew, I just read this thread start to finish. I just read your posts Bo, if I had read all the responses I would be reading for a week.

A few thoughts. Thanks for sharing your story and all the pics

The place came out great.

Your story is a great example of government out of hand. I live in Illinois and we have our problems but where I live there is no inspections or approval process. If I want a crappy sub standard place built, it is on me. I guess they call that personal responsibility. Is all the hoops you had to jump threw a county level thing? My county is about 30,000 people and the largest town, about 20,000 has any real zoning or inspection process and it pretty tame compared to what you went through. I am a recently retired land surveyor and worked for a civil engineering company my entire career so I know about getting stuff approved. They were shooting stuff down they had no business worrying about. It’s a long past nightmare for you but I just relived it with you.

I hope your knee replacement goes well and continued good luck.

In years past there was a code for the city and one for rural areas of the county, but just before I started, they made the strict city code be county wide. Prescott use to be a great little country town where the rodeo was the biggest thing of the year. About a decade ago, too many libs from CA moved there and infiltrated the county gov and hence the code became a power thing instead of a safety issue. Sedona is also in our county and they have ruined it as far as the locals are concerned. It’s all about business now.

Lol, too many of my ‘eventualities’ never arrived.

I was looking at this post from 5 years ago. Well, å…Žventually has finally arrived. LOL

Looking at that 5 year old post, I am still amazed of the size of those logs. One log about the height of the railing in the later post. And having to use a chain saw to cut openings for doors and windows. Amazing. Jon

Now everything is on hold. Monday morning I checked into the hospital for a total knee replacement. The surgery well very well and by 4 in the afternoon I was checked out and heading home. Since my wife is still working as a nurse in Scottsdale, “home” for me has temporarily switched from the Ranch to the mobile in a senior park. Very boring but I get my own personal home care. Hopefully it will not take TOO long, as it is time to start cutting and splitting firewood. My first PT session is going to be Thursday morning. That might give me an indication of my time frame.

Glad to hear everything went well. Follow through with your rehab and stay mobile. This gives a different meaning to following up on your "progress".

I'm glad to hear you're doing well and in good hands. I've known several people that had knee replacements and the only one that I know of that had problems was a nephew. He started off real well and got through the therapy with flying colors then a couple of years later he just stopped walking or any exercise and went down hill. All he wanted to do was sit around and drink beer and smoke cigarettes. He died from a heart attack a month after turning 70. It really bothered me as we were real close. Everyone else I know has done great and I'm sure you will too being as active as you are. Best wishes.

I was out in Prescott a few years ago. My son and I went to a week of shooting school near there.
My wife thought Prescott was a unique town. Too bad about the progressives. They screw up one place, pack up and move somewhere else to screw that up. Ca to Denver, Ca to Texas, N.Y. to north Caroline and Fla. It is like a disease they carry.
I like you thread and posts. Now, I am in the middle of a build...I am only doing a small part of it though.
I am going to ask about burying a propane tank. I am guessing that you would have to own it, to bury it?

I would plan on it being a few weeks before you are doing any wood cutting. Good luck on the rehab.
