How old are your grandsons? Are they old enough to put to work? You could be done with this project in a week!!!

13, 11, 9, and 7

The older two are working on a treehouse and the younger two need a lot of supervision. They normally live in the city and are used to playing a lot of video games. No video games allowed at grandpa’s house. I keep them busy all day with chores, quad rides, riding the zipline, shooting BB guns, etc. They are exhausted every night. Coming from a house with a small yard to 80 acres is just plain heaven for them.

I don't remember, do you have or use a drone? I remember you building the zip line, but a shot from the drone could be neat. Just asking. I have enjoyed your log home build and am very impressed with the size of the logs and the hard work to get them in place. Enjoy the kids and keep them busy and tired out. Jon

I am a little behind, as I just started reading! The first thing this reminded me of was 3RRL's post about building his place in California. No power nearby, and all the things they did to get by! Should be a great read, looking forward to catching up with everyone else!!

I have a drone but I have not got very proficient with it yet. A lot of the days it is just too windy to even try. I suppose I should have one of the grandsons do it for me. They would probably be experts.

Here is the last picture I took while 40 feet up on the telehandler before I sold it. However, it is pre-zipline. I will have to work on that drone shot.

Glad you were in the telehandler at that height. I could not have done it. But also drones and winds don't mix. I lost mine when it got to high into the winds and would not respond. So I now respect all drone operators. I have too small of a viewing area to make it worth replacing. Jon

They sold that place and moved to Idaho a few years ago.

I survived the 2 weeks with my grandsons, and took them back to CA. They had a great time.
Now I am resting up for a few days, then next week I am having a total knee replacement, so I will be out of commission for awhile.

Just got bad news. With the big spike in Covid cases in AZ, my hospital is cancelling surgery for the next couple weeks.
I am postponed until August 31. Bummer.

That's disappointing. Hopefully you'll be able to get more done on the house while waiting for your surgery date.

Sorry for your delay. Like Brandi said, please do your therapy. I have a friend that didn't, and it caused him great agony downstream, even going back under anesthesia.

No worries in that department. I’m a firm believer in PT. I will be there everyday. If anything, I have to worry about pushing it too much.

I have been working on the railing when I have time. Slow and steady. It will get done one of these days.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race!!!

I can't even count how many jobs that I've done where the client started doing it themselves, and was in such a hurry to get it done, that they just made a huge mess of it and then became overwhelmed at fixing it and just gave up.

You're steady progress is turning out very nice!!!
