They've got a pretty standard OEM relationship.
As such, yes, TYM is manufacturing the tractor and putting an RK badge on it, but that doesn't mean that you can buy the same tractor from TYM.
I'm wondering, what is it you can get from RK on their tractor, that you "can't" get on a TYM???

And don't tell me the "name"...

It seems that they negotiated to have some things added as standard equipment like remotes and lights that are optional on the TYM versions, but I don't know if the price reflects that or not. As to something on the R_K that is not available at all on the TYM? Dunno.

TYM builds for several brands.

If everyone who owns one of those brands posts in the TYM forum instead of their brand forum, not only would we no longer need the other forums, we would have to wade through an ever growing list of threads that have no bearing on our specific brand.

It is best to post any brand question in the brand forum first.

You are in the right place for RK tractors!

What other brands does TYM build for.

I agree, use the RK forum, until you have an unanswered mechanical question, then try the TYM forum.

Depending on the questions, some (the more difficult ones) do end up getting answered by him. But the simpler questions get answered many times by someone in your local store, or another person somewhere in the team.

As far as the point made about others being able to see/read the answers given, I agree that is the advantage of a forum, but as a widespread source of information, it's just not practical. The website RK has put together is much more user friendly than a forum, and accessible to most. I'm assuming frequent questions will be added as time goes on, and some questions may continue to be answered here, but as far as a timely thought out system to respond, the website is just more functional and able to handle task. And as the RKTG said, they do monitor this forum for issues/questions/concerns.

I do not think anyone at the Fort Wayne Coventry store even knows what a tractor is!

Really is the worst RK I have ever seen

Thank you guys. I currently own two Kubotas, my dad has a Massey 240, I grew up driving anything from 60's Massey Ferguson, John Deer, Fords and White tractors. I owned a grey market Yanmar at one time. I love all things tractors. I have had my eye on a Kubota Grand L 6060 for years but I just could not bring myself to pay the extra over the RK 55. I don't know if you can really tell where stuff is made today. I was impressed to see my RK 55 has a Yanmar engine, Bosch fuel injector and Nippondenso starter though.

For the U.S. market, TYM Korea currently builds tractors for TYM USA (which they own), Mahindra, RK Tractors and a very small number for Zetor. This manufacturing strategy is common in the under 60HP space. For example, LS Mtron, another Korean company, builds for their own brand LS, plus CaseIH and New Holland (CNH). Iseki (Japan) builds for Massey-Ferguson (an AGCO brand). Deere uses a global sourcing strategy; a sub-system bought here, another there, assembly location depending upon model. There is considerable cross use of drive-lines, engines and the supply base among the under 60HP tractor brands. Currently, RK Tractors are distributed (sold) only through 60 Rural King locations, with Glasgow KY, Huntsville AL and Crossville TN locations to be added when they open late August. Next year, distribution will be vastly expanded. More on that later this year.

Just a note about the RK Tractor guy portal on the RK website. I made contact through it for a fuse question/problem not answered in the owner's manual. Literally, I received a response, a phone call, in less than 5 minutes. We spoke and I was told a mechanic would call me the next day. 7:30AM this morning mechanic called, listened to my question, offered ideas and input. Tried a few things suggested, spoke to mechanic several times. The nearest mobile mechanic was 4 hours away. No need to send someone for a simple question/problem. Finally with his help the question was answered/problem solved.

I know 5 minutes is probably not the norm as I got lucky, but the entire episode was reassuring to someone without a trailer and 4hrs from a mobile mechanic.

Thank you Dan and Randy!

Great service. What if the fix required a mechanic onsite?

I don't think anyone's wondering (what if) at this point as long as it stays fixed. I bet both party's are happy.. Bet nobody was wanting to do a 8 hr. round trip for a fuse. ;)

Yeah for sure. I was curious if in the discussion the dealer mentioned what the next step would be.

"Same deal"?
Really?
We DO NOT know who builds laptops for Dell.
But......we DO know that TYM builds tractors for RK.
It used to be, that Foxconn built laptops for Dell. Not sure if they still do or not, I think they still make a fair number of the components.

Let’s not forget Zetor and Lamborghini too. There are probably others too, but I cannot think of them right now.

Lamborghini (SDF Group)? What does TYM make for the SDF Group?

As often happens in forum discussions things get a bit messy and misunderstood.

Here's my take on this. RK is the acronym for Rural King Farm Stores. RK does not manufacture any piece of a tractor. RK is a Dealership selling TYM tractors badged RK under a contractual agreement between the two companies.

If I have misunderstood this arrangement please correct me.

So, anyone on TBN that owns an RK tractor and would like to have a forum discussion about it maybe they can get their answers by posting in the TYM forum here on TBN?
No one would ever correct you , RICHARD , it cannot be done . Kevin .

For clarity's sake. Rural King stores are not dealerships. They are retail farm supply stores founded and still run by a farmer family 60 years ago. There are 113 locations and growing, 60 now carry RK Tractors, all owned by Rural King. My job, and that of the others that came from the Ag Equipment industry is to blend the best of retail with that of traditional tractor dealerships to make RK Tractors a successful and sustainable tractor brand. Quality tractors, offered at great prices and the parts & service infrastructure to take care of customer equipment. It is a different business model from the long-standing OEM/Independent Dealer network. Some think we will fail, but we think we will be around in 30 years and longer, that's why we are here now. Hopefully are presence on the forum and transparency about our business already separates us a bit. We know we have lots to do and can certainly improve, but none of us would be working every day to grow this business responsibly if we didn't think this was the last and best job we would ever have.
