She's back together, need to hook up lines and will test tomorrow.

EDIT: It was a PITA but got it done in about 2 hours. Had to call my neighbor for a fresh perspective and we jacked up the rear a little more and in she went. Had to have him turn the pto shaft to get it started then used a prybar to turn flywheel to align the traction shaft splines.

This is what I use. Pretty much all made from leftover iron and steel from various scrap steel racks. Different pieces of different lengths, all adjustable and bolted together to accommodate different size tractors. It all disassembles with a few tools so it's easily handled, and loaded for transport from one job site to another. If I run across an application I where I don't have the proper adapters to fit the occasion I simply make what I need from the same materials and it will all interchange.

And to assist with putting everything together use a come- along lightly !
When I work at an IH tractor dealer we split big IH tractors with-OUT using a come-along to pull them back together.

If it all lined up the roll easy and if not you’re likely to damage something forcing it with a come-along. Obviously with care it can be done.

We didn’t have splitting track systems back in the 1970s. We used like 6 - 8” long alignment dowels.

I’d like to try a rail/track system, but I hope I don’t have to. ;)

I've used large splitting stands for larger tractors, but now I no longer work on stuff that size. What I have suits my needs, and is easy to transport. I've seen the rail type systems, and I'm sure they have their place. Never used one, and probably never will. I can't see the advantage to all that apparatus and stepping over any more obstruction than I have to while working on a tractor that's split in two.

As for the come along, I've split more tractors than I care to count using this method and as far as I can recall, have never damaged anything. I work by myself most of the time in varying conditions and often on uneven floors. This allows me greater control and a vantage point from the side where I can see the two halves coming together.

Damage people do isn't always the fault of the tools they use, but more often how they're used..
