Amazon Sucks

the only thing i don't like about amazon is that i missed cashing in on the stock run up. delivery is great and most things i need are prime qualified. they should include streaming music (like spotify) with the prime package. here in VA amazon collects sales tax.

I've only had three issues with Amazon and all three were settled with just an email telling them what the problem was.

The last issue was over some cookware I ordered for a gift this Christmas. I got my tracking number and, for some reason, I looked the item up again on their website and noticed that the price had dropped by almost $17.00 the day after I'd ordered it. I contacted them and within 10 minutes got an email back that said they price match their items for ten days after the item ships. Got a refund posted to my account within two hours.

Every time I tried to order something from Amazon so I get a message that it can not be shipped to my location. Heck I live in rural areas in Norway not in another galaxy.

My last Amazon purchase was for a book; ordered on 12/28, arrived on 12/31, standard shipping, no rush. And like Gunny, I had one item on which the price came down after I ordered. Instead of a refund or credit on my credit card, they issued a credit to my account with Amazon so I could use it later. So far, no complaints at all with them.

Ditto on amazon prime. One or two small issues quickly resolved at no cost. Amazing service especially considering cost in time gas frustration of shopping for most things in person.

I'm a big fan of Amazon and highly recommend them. Usually they are the cheapest, but not always, but I go there first all the time because their search engine is so good and their reviews are the best. How to decided what flat screen to buy? or who makes the best spotlight? I just read the reviews on there until I find the best one. Then I start looking for the best price. Sometimes I buy from there, sometimes I find it cheaper at Sam's or just googling it.

Since the OP didn't say what happened other then just bashing Amazon, I wonder who is really at fault there?

Same here, I have never had any trouble, with Amazon, and you can usually find out if a product is any good. I buy from them a lot, but sometimes I can find it cheaper elsewhere. But overall they make is so easy to order from them it is hard to resist them.:)

I've had no real problems with Amazon and I'm a Prime member. I do have one item in transit that I'm not as pleased as I could be. Made a purchase Sun evening and item shipped on Mon. Item shipped from Seattle and heading towards Portland Or. Tracking reported item was in Portland at 1AM Mon night. I'm <20 mi away. Seeing the time it arrive at local facility I would have thought it could have been delivered on Tues but tracking still said Thurs.

I'm not getting my undies in a knot over this and I don't know what kind of contractual arrangement Amazon has with UPS for the 2 day prime deliveries. I was initially told Thurs and I'm sure it will be delivered on Thurs. Just would have been a little more pleased if it had showed up yesterday since the package has been close by since Mon night.

I try to avoid ordering from third parties on Amazon just because it is more complicated if there is a problem but I have ordered from third parties and not had any problems.

When I first started using Amazon, I made a mistake, even though I think it was partly the fault of Amazon's page design, and I ordered some DIAPERS! I was comparing prices of Amazon diapers vs local bought and somehow the diapers ended up in our shopping cart and eventually got ordered. The third party company did take the diapers back without a problem.

Technology wise I prefer to avoid being a Pioneer since Pioneers tend to collect arrows and I don't like arrow collecting. Well, a few years ago I made an exception at being a Tech Pioneer and ordered a Kindle Fire so I could get the electronic version of the WSJ. The electron version of the WSJ would, in a year, save me the cost of the Kindle. As I feared, I collected a bunch of arrows being a Kindle WSJ Tech Pioneer. Long story short, the problem was in the WSJ application but I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Amazon support one Friday evening. Yes, I live an exciting life.:laughing::laughing: While Amazon could not fix the problem they sure as heck tried their best which is all that I can ask. In the end, the problem was resolved with the WSJ app by WSJ AND Amazon credited my account for the Amazon Prime service! Again, the problem was not Amazon's but they gave me some great Customer Support.

I just bought the latest Kindle 8.9 HDX and wow is it impressive. It weighs half what my Fire 7 inch model does and has better battery life. Awesome little system. My father broke down and bought one and he spent most of his time reading books on the Kindle as well browsing and email. Anyway, I was able to easily migrate most of my "stuff" from the old to the new Kindle. The only migration problem I had was with the saved WSJ articles which is not Amazon's fault.

Amazon scares me in how they get me to spend money.:laughing::laughing: We do buy quite a bit from Amazon because of they almost always have the lowest price AND we can easily order and get delivery to our door. For us to go to many stores in "town" it costs us a good $10 in gas so ordering from Amazon really does save money. I have to push the order button so we can get our next order on Friday. :D I did get an Amazon CC since that saves us even more money...

Later,
Dan

Amazon frequently lists additional buying options like "used, from Amazon.com". I found these items tend to be actually new but out of the original packaging, at a considerable savings. I ordered a cover for my RV and it came with no box and no installation hardware (special stuff). I called and they said just buy what you need from the manufacturer and we will reimburse you, no problem. So I ended with with a great price on the cover and all I needed for installation hardware at no cost, except a little of my time.
