how much air should one have in front tires on L3800 with ag tires. i cheched them and found they had 40 lbs i beleive thats too much?

Is the max inflation pressure shown on the sidewall? If it is a 7 - 16 with 6 ply rating the pressure would be 36 psi. The spec sheet says 7.2 - 16 but I don't find that size in Bridgestone - Firestone or Titan - Goodyear books.

I have 7.2 - 16 Goodyear front tires on my L3010. Manual says 22 psi. Loader manual says to increase to 26 psi with loader.

Hard to beat mfg specs. What does it say on the tire itself?

Tires are designed to carry a full foot print on the ground. This does change depending on load so if you have a loader and enjoy carrying large loads you will need more air pressure then if you don't have a loader and might be using the three point to carry loads.
The pressure makes a big difference as far as ride as well so it is important not to over inflate same as having the tires filled.

After you determine your tire size this is what the tractor and loader manuals calls for.
According to this chart 40psi is too much but to confirm that your tire should have a max tire pressure rating.
I have the r4 tires on my 3800 but from what I've heard the r1 tires are a softer tire so maybe your dealer airs the front tires
up with a little extra psi when leaving with a loader.The manual doesn't support that assumption tho.

the best an safest thing todo about tire pressure is look in your tractor manual ango from there.
When they were installed they probably put that much pressure to seat the bead and never let the pressure down.
