Adding an hour meter

How would one go about adding an hour meter to something like a Pacer Pump. Pacer Pumps - Gas Driven S Series Pumps - EconoAg .

The directions to the pump say to change the oil every XX hours. It seems that if a piece of equipment told you to change the oil every XX hours that they would include an hour meter from the factory.

I need to add one to my generator too!!!

Take a look at this: Tiny-Tach: Gasoline Tachometers

$47 plus shipping but it looks like it works with most gasoline engines and provides both a tach and an hour meter. The tach would be especially useful with the generator to set the RPMs correctly so AC frequency and voltage will be right.

Yeah,

I found this Yamaha one Adding A Generator Hour Meter & Tachometer by 2manytoyz for $39.00.

Surely there has to be a way to add one of the cheaper $20-$25 ones from Northern tool or a local supplier.
