There are a variety of communities where people are able to mark "issues" solved. it edits the original post with a solved solution link to the thread that fixed the issue.

would that be possible here? I think a lot of people would appreciate it when searching etc....

The issue is getting people that come here with a problem....ask a question.....figure it out then never report back on their findings or the solution.

Ain’t that the truth..
I ask all my people to go back to the site they got my info from, to go back and update their thread w the solution to their problem..
some do and some don’t..

As LD1 said, it's a matter of the OP coming back and saying/expressing/admitting what the solution to the initial problem was.

I remember having a fault that Members advised that it was a biological infestation of my fuel tank, giving advice to ascertain the fault. I adamantly said that it couldn't be that... then found that it was. I admitted it and described all of the steps on how I corrected the situation.

I did this, not to apologise, but to help future people/Members who may see the thread that I started. It's no 'skin off my nose' if I look like a twit for initially ignoring/rejecting the freely given advice that was provided. I felt morally obligated to vindicate the advice that was correctly given.

Since then, there has been numerous times that questions have been asked on TBN with no solution to their dilemma provided, despite advice given. Unfortunately, there is no obligation on the recipient to reply.

Mind you, I know that I have a thread on an inoperable 3rd function, that I have yet to solve. When it's fixed, I'll 'post'.

It not only helps others ever searching for answers to similar problems, but it also vindicates the advise given.....and gives the people a feeling like their advise was appreciated and put to good use.

Lots of old time members are fading away. Not just from this forum but others as well. Lots of these guys were here really for the purpose of helping out others and sharing those lifetime.pf knowledge.

But constantly answering questions to thousands of people to help them out for free....give them a little credit and respect. Stick around....learn more....then one day maybe pay it forward
