John Deere 650
I need some help. I have a JD 650. It has been a great tractor. However the last time I was on it, I was driving and the 3 point shot up in the air.

Now my blade is either all the way or or down. And when it comes down it will only creep down taking minutes to get to the ground.

Everything seems to be working fine but there is something out of adjustment.

Please let me know if you know of anything I can do.

:welcome:

How about a bit more description? I don't quite grasp what really happened.
"shot up in the air" isn't descriptive (for me :) ).

Can you give us some dialogue of different results from moving your 3 ph control lever (up, down, part way up) and the corresponding reactions of the 3 ph arms? With and/or without an attachment?

Do you have the manual for the JD 650?

a quick thing that comes to mind that is easy to check is this draft linkage. Look on the left side lift arm and follow the rod forward. This gives feedback to the control valve.

I do have a manual.

I will do my best to describe to you what happened.

I was driving along and I had my remote about a quarter of the way up. With the blade about a foot off the ground. When all of the sudden the blade shot up in the air and killed the engine due to not enough rpm.

The tractor does start. And the blade will go up in the air but I have my remote all the way down. If I move my remote 1 millimeter ( or the slightest movement) the blade goes all the way up. And it only creeps down taking minutes to drop to the ground.

It is like it is out of adjustment or something.

I did check the draft linkage and it does not look like anything has moved or come out of adjustment.

However on the far left there is a lever that appears to have come unbolted that does release pressure allowing the blade to come all the way down just like it is suppose to. But I can find anything that it would of attached to.

If I could even get a picture of the draft linkage under the seat on the left side I may be able to figure it out. And save me some money taking it to a repair shop.

Thanks for all your help. It has worked perfectly until the cold weather got hear and I always let it warm up for 5 or 10 minutes before I use it.

Be sure to check condition of spring #55. Also make sure link#2 pivots freely on shaft #5.
