Have ya'll tried to "rake" leaves with your mower deck? It's amazing how well the deck clears leaves from my lawn. It's like blower...outstanding job. What it doesn't push out of the way, it mulches. I was mowing through deep piles and it did a fantastic job. Just a little bit of raking around trees and shrubs :) What a great machine.

My 72" MMM is even better than your 60"./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Only because it's 12" bigger./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Kubota sure makes a good mower./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

I did mowed my leaves under last night. When it leaves a pile just mow'm again. When possible I try to direct the output towards areas of the yard that needs it most of all. Yards and gardens love the leaves come springtime!

Does the deck come off and on the tractor easily. On a Saturday afternoon at completion of mowing is it practical to take the mower off and head into the woods?

gcbarl,

It plently practical to take the the mower deck off, I can do mine in about 15 minutes. Heading into the woods is also easy, it's comming back out that can be hard /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

So what is the story with adjusting mower height from the seat on B7500 with a 60" MMM. Is it possible? Is the mower suspended off the tractor or on it own wheels? I hear that the BX mower is better. What gives???

The merits of the BX2200 suspended deck Vs the B7500 floating deck have been
discussed at length and on another thread. Search a bit and you can find it.
There was general agreement, on a perfect lawn they both provide the same cut. On the non perfect lawn each model owner though his machine was best.
At the risk of suffering the rath of the "Grand Pubba of BX Doom" I believe a mower deck with a 2 foot wheel base (B7500 deck ) is a better terrain follower than a mower deck with a 5 foot wheel base (BX2200 tractor). Three points determine a plane and a single wheel that may be over a hole does not in itself change the plane of the deck and that same wheel encountering a hill will
change the plane of the deck. In addition, if the deck were suspended from
the tractor neither of these conditions would be true as a result of the
articulating front axle of the tractor. I also believe there is not a BX
owner on the board that agrees with this. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
The best one is the one that's best for you.

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

My JD 60" MMM is not a good leaf raker. My old 18HP Craftsman 42" MMM was. My Craftsman would crack up nicely small branches and "push" leaves. MY JD 60" MMM, don't get me wrong, gives a very nice cut, but bigger things seem to get by easier.

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

You can't adjust the height on a B7500 MMM from the seat.
It's adjusted on the deck by moving the wheels/skid rollers up and down.

You have a deck off in 15-30 minutes with no problem at all.
Just take your time and watch your back when sliding it out from under the tractor. If you have FEL it makes the process easier.

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

Jim, I not only rake leaves with my 60" mmm, but I pick them up with my 'coveted' grass catcher. Not only does our lawn look beautiful and pristine, but then I can put a good protective layer on the veggie and flower gardens! Is the smug tone coming through clearly??? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

What kind of PHD did you buy for your 2910?

I just took delivery of my new B7500HSD, LA302 fel, 60" mmm and grass catcher. The first thing I did was changer the height of the mower. This is not something you will want to do while mowing the lawn. It's pretty much a set and leave it kinda thing or I think Kubota would have made it simpler. Here are the steps:

1. Both large front caster wheels need to be moved by removing a circle clip, pulling the pin, adjusting the height, replace the pin, replace the circle clip.

2. Adjust the rear center roller wheel by pulling a lever and changing it to one of the six notched adjustments.

3. Now this one sucks most...you have to take out two bolts holding on the right rear roller and move it to any of three positions.

4. There is also a wheel on the left rear that you have to remove the cicle clip, pull the pin, adjust the wheel, replace the pin and replace the circle clip.

It sounds horrible but I don't think it took any more than 10 minutes. But as I said, I wouldn't want to be doing this multiple times while mowing. I just love this tractor, I think I'll have a smile for days stuck on my face!!!!!

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

How exactly does the FEL make it easier? I just slide the deck to the side and pull away. It takes all but 10 minutes max. It is heavy though and I dropped it once......wasn't fun.

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

With the FEL you can lift up the front end, thus giving you a lot more clearence to easily slide the deck in/out.

Re: 60\" Deck Owners

I found out by accident that if I mow backwards with my Woods RD6000 that it cleans everything up. My leaf blower is going to get minimal use this year!
