5325 Hydraulic Pump

Hello out there. We finally got a used 5325 and took it into the dealer for the rountine service and fluid change at 500 hours. The dealer is telling me that it needs a new hydraulic pump soon as the current one is "weak". Obviously this is an expensive repair and was wondering if anyone would know how to tell if this is truly the case from operating a function etc.
