Hydraulic Pump - TC55DA EHSS

Where are the screen and magnets located? I did look at your pic descriptions, and it showed screen as the pic with open pipe with flange. I have checked the parts fische for my 2007 2420 EHSS. I can't find the screen anywhere, nor magnets etc. The plumbing is quite a bit different as well, as the hydraulic filter housing is mounted on the back axle on mine. I plan on doing hydraulic filter and fluid change soon and would love to pull that screen and magnets as you did, should they still be used.

If I grabbed the correct link, it looks like yours is in the same place as mine.... Part 36.
https://www.messicks.com/catalogs/n...-03-01-power-steering-pump-hydraulic-pump-sss - This diagram is on the Steering and power steering pump section of the parts diagram ( one would expect it on the hydraulic diagram)

When you take off the pipe that comes from the tractor to the filter housing ( 3 bolts ) There will be a gasket, you likely want to replace this gasket, as a small tear will introduce air into the suction side of the pump. As it is the lowest point in the system, you will have to drain all fluid in order to replace it after the fact. The magnets are simply stuck to the inside of the metal screen... One of my pictures shows 6 magnets on the inside of the screen as you look down the tube.

Because of shipping, I found this part on ebay cheaper than messicks. But if you are ordering several things, Messick's may be easiest.

Cripes, I was looking at hydraulic and engine fisches! Thanks for the insight, and going beyond the call of duty!

There is a picture in my thread that is the open hole... The screen is a static fit, once you open it up you may have to work it a bit to get it out. Once I got it out a 1/4" I was able to get some pliers on it to pull it out.

Also if you look at that picture I have of where the screen is on the tractor, you can see that my gasket has a small chunk missing. Which may or not be the case for you. For me, I chose to simply replace the gasket, as to not worry about having to capture my fluid and fix again later, if it became an issue.

Finally got my gasket.... Pump works great. If the pump is any more or less noisy than the factory, I can't tell. I would guess it is making less noise, as I really have to pay attention to hear it. - Could be the NH fluid I used with this pump/filter change.
I did my best to loosen up the inlet hoses to allow as much air to escape and prime the pump as much as I could... Tightened everything up. Fired right up!

While everything was down and I was waiting on a gasket I took the time to change the oil, Front axle and drop spindle lubrication. The plan is to do a radiator slush and rust removal while doing some light brush cutting in the cool weather.... Tractor will then be ready for the hot summer.

Hopefully I don't have a "valid" reason to be on the forums for a while.

That is great news, thanks for letting us know and it was nice that a 3rd party was able to make something work for you.

I did a complete hydro fluid and filter change on my 2007 2420 EHSS last week. Thanks to 99k I also went in and surgically removed and cleaned the suction screen and magnets. Screen wasn't 20260502_130342.jpg20260502_130337.jpg bad, magnets were furry with metal bits and associated splooge. I bought the machine with 300 hrs, now at 690 hrs. I doubt that the previous owner serviced the suction screen, as the bolts holding tube to the reservoir were still virginal with paint. Way overdue! But now I know more, thanks to this forum! There is not a lot of info out there on this drive system.
