Clutches do wear and need to be adjusted. You may not need to do anything besides adjust for a number of years.

Also, your operational technique can cause rapid clutch wear. Using the clutch to modulate speed (like when plowing into a snow bank) can roast a brand new clutch in a day in the worst cases. So, don't do that!

I wasn't doing that actually. The problem was discovered when I put the blade into the bank, in 4wd, low gear, with nothing but the go pedal and it just stopped when it hit resistance. But I hear you on riding the clutch. Not driving the stick like it was a car, trying to "slow the engine down" by down shifting.

I got the impression that you haven't owned it long. So it's hard to tell how much wear was done before you got it. If the clutch grabs well now that you adjusted it you could be OK.

I had to replace a throw out bearing on my 2 1/2 ton International dump truck in the dead of winter outside. It was my only way of plowing and being at the top of the hill nobody was going to plow up to me. It was one of those "it has to get done" jobs. It wasn't fun.

When fixing in the middle of winter it usually becomes a get in, do the job, and get out with little thought of looking for other future potential problems.
