460 Loader Hydro Lines

My Father just bought a 4500 with a 460 loader. The hydro lines on the cross member are bent and beat up bad, he ordered new lines. So my question is when we install the new lines, do we I have to bleed the air out of the lines or can I just install them on and use the loader to bleed the air out?

The lines are pretty vulnerable on those loaders. Make sure you relieve pressure before you get started. Just replace the lines. The first time you move the loader it will be sluggish. Just cycle both functions a few time and you'll be fine. I have one customer that "secures" his bent up lines with a piece of extension cord.

Once the lines are relaced I'm going to cover them with a piece of pvc pipe and some HD wide zip ties.

A section of pipe is a darn good idea for a shield. If you work with gravel, I would remove that cover every 100 hours or so to remove debris caught between the lines. Those little rocks and the vibration of the machine will wear holes in your lines.:thumbsup:

Kevins is 100% correct, the system is self-bleeding so you only need to cycle all the functions several times to purge the air.

Hi Chuck!
I have a 460 loader wth bent lines also - did you order these (all 4) from the dealer or have them made? Were they expensive to replace??
