Disappointing, but I can tell you even the derated version tows very very good.
Good enough for this chronic overloader anyways.

One should be very careful buying from a company who changes/updates their engine every 2 to 3 years to address complaints and issues.

Funny thing is, they didn't update the worst issue of all which has been the roller rocker valvetrain they switched to a few years ago. And they went back to a "revised" version of the problematic CP4 fuel pump. That's not going to sit well with loyalists. OH, and the new engine has OTA update capability....which essentially means they can spy on you and verify any time you tune/modify the engine.

This is an absolute no-go for me. I'll keep my old Powerstroke forever and if it dies I'll buy an old Cummins or another old Powerstroke.

Yeah I think I will keep my 2020 Ram a while, until I get some “real world” feedback like from hot shotters or farmers. The candy ratings on you-tube are for cupcakes & kids playing with trucks.

Of course I will always watch what the other 2 do. If GM and Ford come up with a breakthrough that benefits me, I will consider one.

Towing is not really a power thing, it's a gearing thing. That is why cab and chassis can tow more, because they have gears set up for that. Also, capacity is dictated by the axles and suspension.

It looks like they finally fixed the grid heaters and that one bolt that can wipe an entire engine out.

I wonder what they mean by a new emission's? Hopefully it doesn't take 10 years for the bugs to be worked out of the emissions.

Part of the new emmissions is moving the select catalyst up closer to the exhaust manifold to make it run hotter and improve its performance.
Mine is a few feet down stream from where the really hot exhaust is.

Look at a dyno chart. Look at the torque just above idle.
That’s what gets a load moving.

It’s one of the primary reasons a 300HP diesel engine will pull more than a 400HP gas engine.

More torque as soon as you dip your foot. Saves fuel, too.

Have you looked at a dyno for a boosted gas engine? How is that any different than a inline 6?

Maybe, just maybe...off idle torque is created based upon how fast a turbo spools up?
