Found an easy way to add a trailer ball to the quick hitch. Just bolted a scrap piece of 1/2" steel to the quick hitch, and drilled it for the ball. Works great for moving the trailer around the yard, just roll it all the way forward. It is out of the way when using the bucket or the forks.

Reminds me of the receiver hitch that I bolted to the top frame of the Speeco Ultra fork.

Old thread. Don't care, just means I'm a "slow reader" LOL.

Have to say, this is BRILLIANT!!!

I was trying to work out a framework for adding a Reese receiver to use with my quick hitch. Now I'll just weld it to my box blade, like you did for the ball.

THANKS!!!

Yeah I was just looking at that too. I have only watched and assisted in welding, I have never done my own though. How hard would it be (for someone like me) to weld it onto a box blade? And DsikDoctr, are you going to put a receiver on there or just a ball? Would it be just as good to bolt a receiver onto the box blade? Or I could even drill out a hole and connect the ball that way?

You may wish to check out Titan Attachments. Got my 3pt set up form them for a good price. Works well. Also have a QA one for the front.

My box blade has only a lip on top, so it will be a "light duty" hitch. I could reinforce it for more, but the big camper I'll move with the truck. It will easily move any of the other campers and trailers.

Here is what I added. I forgot this box steel was too big for the Reese hitches, so AFTER installing it I added some flat stock inside to make a better fit

Worked quite well for a popup we converted into a two layer canoe and camping gear trailer. Really like the ability to maneuver in tight spaces.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Welding? You will have some weight on it and pulling a load. If you have someone nearby who welds, invite them over. Do you have a welder? If not, a portable 110v should work for this.

You can have them show you basic welding while you're at it

I am going to look for a couple of rings or something to hook chains to- especially since it is light duty. I used flat stock on either side, but still only something like 5"-6" of weld, so better to be safe.

Nice, and a little lower than mine ;)

My blade is curved in the back and I use the back of the box blade about half as much as the front, didn't want to impact it.

I have found the height to be a bit of a challenge already, that's why the drop hitch. Probably will get a bigger drop one shortly.

No welding can be a big advantage for those without a welder, too!

My version on my LMC BB:

Very nice! Did your BB have the center brace already, or did you add it?

What are the teeth? Did you add those? Looks like you added weight, too?

The triangle was alrea1dy there installed by the manufacturer; you can see it on their MT BB here: Box Blades

The rear is a 8"x8"x72" steel, lead and concrete weight block. It weighs 410 lbs. I made it into a Rachet Rake (yellow teeth) holder as well. Total weight = 520 lbs. Made the BB far more effective.

Sweet! What are the box sleeves for on each side of the triangle? Do you mount something there?

What do you use a Rachet Rake for? I use the BB, then York Rake with the spring tines. They don't look deep enough for much seeding?

The "box sleeves" are 3/16" stake pockets from AWDirect. Far more useful for chain work then hooks.

I've used the RR once, then never again. For me, didn't work all that great.
