1967 sears ss12

Hello looking to see if anyone knows where I can get a head or motor for my 67 ss 12 machine is real clean original condition , replaced head gasket still leaking out of front of motor I was told to double up gaskets not sure if that would be
wise .

If it is the surface of the head being out of plane, you could take it to a machine shop and have them deck the head, which should make it easier to seal.

I think those are an iron block Tecumseh? At least that is what the SS12 had that I grew up on. A straight edge could prove helpful.

You're right tomplum. They were iron blocks with aluminum heads. As long they're torqued probably they are usually pretty forgiving. 2 head gaskets isn't the answer. I'd have the head checked to make sure its not warped. Easy thing for a engine machine shop.

I'm thinking that may be a Tecumseh HH120. Model number should be stamped in the top of the shroud. If it is, the part number for the cyl. head is 33034. Did a search, and seem to be plentiful, but pricey. Saw a few anywhere from $82+change, to $86+ change. Head gasket was under $5.

Just do look for the number on the shroud to find the correct model, then do a search for that models parts. More than several exploded view diagrams, with part numbers to look it up. Always use the part number when looking.

Thanks for that info the numbers I pulled a serial #7174 model 143-572012 head a 31961 or a 31058 I called a couple of places said they were obsolete I did see 33034 looks similar will have to take mine apart
again to measure holes
