What do you all do to be prepared for long term power loss?

My expectations is power from the grid will become unreliable and expensive. Pretty much what many destitute countries experience now. We have been fortunate in the US to have lived in a period of extraordinary high living standards. Most of which has been financed by deficit spending. The...

    Plantar Fasciitis, what a curse!!

What do you all do to be prepared for long term power loss?

I run an Off grid solar AIO with GAB (Grid as backup) setup. Most of the time my home is powered from solar/battery unless several days of bad weather require a transfer to utility. The AIO operates like a computers UPS (uninterruptible power supply) but you can choose preferred power and...

    Basic Solar Installation

Uh, I never said they were. I said they were 8 times capacity of the same ah 6vDC. Watts = Volts X amps For 12 volt batteries it would be 4 times. Batteries in series doubles the voltage but the amp hours remain the same. 4 - 100ah 12vDC batteries wired 2S2P gives you a 24v 200ah battery. If...

    Basic Solar Installation

100ah at 48vDC is 8 times the capacity of a 100ah 6vDC battery. So no you do not need 20 or 30 of them. Lead acid is a relic of the past when it comes to a modern PV setup. So long as you can protect LiFePO4 from cold they are so much superior to FLA it is not even close. The price of many PV...

Panels, AIO with LiFePO4 batteries and done. You will have a backup supply that likely is good for 10 years or more. It will be quiet, have no gas exhaust, no worries about resupply, and with prices being at their lowest recently, not a bad bargain. Yes, lights on when no one else has them does...

    Basic Solar Installation

It can be done. An Off grid AIO (all in one) with GAB (grid as backup) would handle things. It is what I have and with some minor exceptions my place does not require grid power. A good place to start your solar journey is over on the DIY Solar forum website.

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

Running one drive motor versus two should require much less pump capacity. Trying a turn with both drive motors (1 forward and 1 in reverse) would be the largest amount of fluid flow. I doubt he would do that for all turns but who knows? It is slightly possible that both drive motors are weak...

Importing and modifying a new mini excavator from China

I would not think it was a pump problem if both tracks operate and drive the machine. Seems odd that they need to work together. Have you tried raising the tracks off ground (blade down in front and lift off with boom in back) and operating one at a time? If you both tracks spin when only...

    GC2300 with 3870 hours

I own a 2003 GC2300 (original owner) with about 600 hours. Based on that I would say that one with as many hours as 3870 is amazing that it lasted that long. There is no way it is worth $6250. Maybe if it is in running condition $1000. Though even that would be a gamble.

If it is still in probate than yes. Even more reason to stop thinking of it as his Mom's home. Depending on the probate laws of California there may be no option for what the siblings are wanting to do. The one thing the OP has not mentioned is who is the court approved Executor for the Estate.

Hmm.. gives me a thought. For those of us a quick hitch constructing a lifting ring welded to a base plate that would have pin arrangement like a pin on standard attachment. Should not be that hard to build. This would allow a distributed load at the boom end versus a chain hook on a bucket...

    Tractor backhoe or Chinese excavator?

The mini will out dig the add on hoe on a tractor. It will not move from place to place as quickly as the tractor. I bought and installed a 3 pt backhoe for my GC2300 several years back. It was of some use but having to mount it and remove it after anytime I needed to use it was a pain. It...

I can not get a picture of how it is arranged on my machine due to where it is at. I don't have that nifty fully opening back compartment that yours does. The choke is slightly different than yours in terms of the cable mount using a simple tension screw fastener instead of a bolt on. Mine...

    Ethanol Free Gas

Only for the example of gas at $2 and $2.65 (E10 and E0). For instance if it is $3 and $3.65 respectfully: 3./14.1=21.3 cents per mile and 3.65/17.1= 21.3 cents per mile. At this you break even for cost.
  119. MattB4

    Ethanol Free Gas

From a strictly cost basis simply figure out your cost per mile for each gas type. For instance if it costs you $2.65 for a gallon of EO to go 17.1 miles. 2.65/17.1=15.5 cents per mile. E10 at 2.00 for a gallon that gives you 14.1 miles would cost 2.00/14.1=14.2 cents per mile. Thus buying...

You paid only $3000 for your QH12? Heck of a price.

Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

Looking over on the Agrotk industrial site I do see a 1-ton (730kg actual) listed for $4900 with free shipping it is the QS12R. By the pictures of it though it really looks like they cut every possible corner in construction. ETA: BTW I noticed they actually have a spec sheet on the hydraulic...

Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

Would be interesting if someone that has bought one at that reported low Auction price makes a post. I distrust these firms to sell at less than their cost plus profit. What I suspect instead is they simply shuffle the equipment to the next Auction when the bids do not reach the minimum level...

Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

Just for reference. The B&S engine that came on my excavator has printed on the pull start/flywheel cover 13.5hp. The engine manual that I got is for 190000, 250000 model with a copyright date of 2022. Nowhere do I see any XR designation though in the sales listing when I bought it was mentioned...

    Chinese built 1-ton plus excavators.

Mine is proving handy. Based on comments and videos I have viewed from folks that bought a Chinese Baby Ex I can see some things to watch for when selecting one to buy. They might initially look identical but there are differences in build. BTW: I spotted this selector valve on the boom of one...

Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

Mine has the B&S Logo but also says Torch. You should have gotten an engine manual that specifies the spark plug and gap. Sorry you got a damaged engine with a new unit. Have you contacted the Seller about it? Or perhaps the AGROTK industrial outfit in Chicago. There is supposedly a year...

Agrotk excavators: Does anyone have one? Opinions/comments/critiques?

After some cold weather starting difficulties I found out these B&S engines now come from the factory with a Torch spark plug. Torch is a Chinese company and they put out some really crappy spark plugs. Through the years of me finding them in various small engines the one constant was how better...

Insurance requires home water leak detector and drone inspections?

Not sure how they would discriminate between usage and leaks. Sounds more like an excuse to not offer coverage. Some areas of the country have had some repeated major weather events that led to massive insurance payouts. I could see why a for profit industry would not want to insure those...

Cheap $20 a month Stand Alone Unlimited Rural Internet through AT&T Wireless

15gb must be fiber. My local POTS is old buried copper wire. They do offer Internet but back when I dropped them for cell phone use they only had 500K (with frequent outages). They also required you to pay for phone service in order to also pay for internet. Considering that the only local free...

Cheap $20 a month Stand Alone Unlimited Rural Internet through AT&T Wireless

I have the same issue here in NW AR. Although I use a wireless Netgear M1 mobile hotspot (I have used cellular modems since 2012 for internet service) for my Internet, with a data only plan from Cricket wireless (AT&T) and my cell phone uses Verizon, neither company offers the cellular home...

Anyone have a Christian Medshare policy?

The religion aspect of it all bothers me a bit because there is a rich history of con men that use peoples faith to prey upon them. However religious based or not I find serious issues with a cost share health care plan as described in this Thread.

Anyone have a Christian Medshare policy?

How exactly does paying other peoples medical cost save you any money? If you say having regular health insurance would cost more, so that is the savings, you than have to show that each is equal in benefit. You also have to show that the money you pay is not being tossed down a rat hole and you...

Anyone have a Christian Medshare policy?

I am not sure you are actually saving anything. It is only a cost share so long as all parties act in good faith. Otherwise you pay in and have only faith that if needed you can get something back from others. I wonder if they give free road service and towing?
