much ?? for males I can somewhat buy it, for female I don't buy it, but I'll let you make your point? ...

My female has no temperament changes when she is in heat, if that's what you are referring to and there is health benefit in not spaying. Like avoid surgical risks, preserve hormones for long-term health (bones and joints), maintain working drive and athleticism (kinda the reason I got a GSD).
Am I assuming correctly that you're stating that that there is a difference in animal behavior between sexes if they are spayed or neutered, and that it actually benefits a female dog per behavior not to be spayed?

mmm not exactly, I mean I think there is more benefit to neutered a male then a female as far as behaviors goes. (lets take the bleeding out of the equation) One member above made the claim that GSD are ''much more manageable if there are spayed or neutered'' ... I can agree that it is the case for male but not as much for spayed female and I am asking for his justification as to what manageable means .... some female DOG do get mood changes when they get in heat but I never witness that, then yes I make the case that there are heath benefits to not spayed your female. Behavioral benefit I guess I also did since I stated their is benefit to maintain their work drive and athleticism... is that what he means by more manageable maybe but for me reducing its work drive doesn't make my dog more manageable maybe even worse lol I don't know but drive is a great way to stimulate them, it is very hard to train a dog without drive, plus I got a GSD for its drive, if you want a couch potato get a great dane.

Note: I am aware that their are risk to not spayed your female dog.

Long story short, some people can write and convey their thoughts better that others. Same thing about talking over the phone.

Get with the people, meet with them in person, see where the pet is going and generally you can get a pretty good feel of things from both the people wanting the animal and those doing the fostering of the animal. One reason why I was a big proponent of a home visit (you actually get to know the people by spending time with them). By the same token, if the people looking to adopt wanted to visit the pet in their current home, they were always more than welcome to visit us.
We first saw Ace on a local news story and knew we had to have him:

Our male doesnt get aggressive when the mutt (intact female) goes into heat. He does get annoying though, but not aggressive.

The female mutt, she's largely a grumpy old B!tch, regardless. I think she's turning 12 this summer. She not a bad dog, although not playful, but she has a strong hunting instinct.

We took the mutt in as a favor to a friend, their dog had puppies, and about 5 or 6 of us extended friend group, each took one. Ours is the only one that made it long term. Others from the litter got aggressive, or just problem animals. She's about 30lbs, and will absolutely kill and eat rabbits/squirrels/ect, but we never had problems with her. Now, she's largely been an outside dog, free the roam the yard/surrounding woods, or just lay in the sun/shade, and that might be way ours turned out fine vs the others from the litter, than tried to make a lap dog out of a hound-russel-beagle?

The mutt, Lola, don't know how she got that name, we never got fixed cause, I guess we just never got around to it... And after several years, it kinda became, why bother she's old anyway. She's never had puppies, and we just keep the seperate during heat.

Some males, yes, can get aggressive, from any breed, when around a female, but ours isnt really bad.

Generally speaking, when animals get a news story, they adopt out very easily.

We kept these dogs in our house and in our fenced in area.

For some reason, people always think we worked with the county back then when we really have no association with the county whatsoever. Ironically enough it was how the county euthanized the dogs that got us involved with our local humane society to begin with.

After the dogs made this news story of the "glad gang", everyone wanted one.

Video clip made me look because I forgot all about that bowl. Another group of puppies, none made the news though. That bowl my wife and I designed to be two sided and raised higher off the ground (JB weld works wonders LOL). Bowl wouldn't slide or tip over. You'll see the bowl quickly in the news story which made me think of it.

Reading up on the story on your own Ace, it's those kind of people who do stuff like that to what we call "pets" (or any animal) that I would loose sleep if someone arranged a meeting with that type of person and their own God.

I guess my only point is I've never really noticed any negative affect in dog behavior after being spayed or neutered. This experience from dogs of all ages.

I have issue with the word behavior here, since most of my argument is about health and not behaviors although there is behavior changes according to studies. I also have never seen behavioral changes in a dog but hard to see the changes when you can't observe the same dog spayed or neutered vs not over the years.... when you see a neutered dog slowing down after 4 year folks say ''finally he slowing down'' or ''he's getting old'' but is he only deficient in hormone ??? who knows... It certainly dose affect their hormones there is no question about it. I have to give my spayed female hormones now because she was dripping piss and had hard time holding it... then the rest I have mentioned are from studies I have read or seen. There are lots of study and evidence in early spayed vs not spayed but there are even study comparing late spayed vs intact with less disparity but still conclude the same results ... The reality of today is there are a lot more evidence in the risk of spayed then say 20 years ago. 20 years ago they used to say spay your dog after 6 month, now they recommend after their first heat cycle. The reality is there are pros and cons, it's not as clear as one would think.

this is one of many articles about it

We gave him the very best life we could. Sadly, he passed from cancer at about 13. Best dog ever.

The sad thing is we all generally outlive our dogs.

Given Ace's history, no doubt he was truly blessed, as you are for having him.

In some other dog's defense, I don't think you'll meet a dog owner who doesn't think one of their dogs is or was the best dog ever. On that statement, I don't believe opinions are at odds with each other ;)

I've quoted Will Rogers numerous times here on one of his quotes... "If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die, I want to go where they went".

And that's the way that it should be. Yet my last dog really was the best, and a lot of other people said so. Even the senior vet tech at the clinic thought highly of him, and said that she was not going to be there when he made his last visit. Yet she ended up being the one holding him when he died... I'm still trying to remember how that happened. I believe that I was just too shell shocked it was happening... he had just walked out of there 3 hours ago.

I want to go to heaven, even if there are no dogs there!

I feel that "rescued" dogs ... Wether strays, or from a shelter are able to tell and appreciate a new good owner ... We adopted a dog we named "Sarah" from a shelter on a Saturday afternoon, she was missing an eye, had a broken tail, and a limp, could not on her own jump up on to the couch ...

The next morning I was getting dressed for church, I had my pants and shirt on, and had just finished putting on my tie, reaching for my coat, had my back to the hall that Sarah was coming down to see me, as we had really connected, even though we really got her for my wife as a companion while I was off to work ... As I slipped on my coat I turned around and saw her, she crouched down, kinda growling, backing up with her broken tail tucked between her legs, I tried to talk to her, but it was no use ... I felt HORRIBLE!

I took off the coat and tie and went and found her, shaking under the table ... I gently coaxed her out, and held her on the couch, she was about 35 Lbs ... Once she was calmed down, I called her to follow me in a happy voice, she was about 2 years old, but not trained ... She followed me cautiously, but trusting into the bedroom, I picked her up and set her on the bed where I had dropped my coat and tie, she sniffed around as petted her, then I picked up the tie, she sat and watched me, I let her sniff it, then I slowly let her watch me with her one eye put it on, she was confused ... I sat down and talked with her for a bit, then let her get down and follow me out to the couch, she still was unsure of the tie ...

Long story short it appeared to me that some guy with a tie really abused her, it took weeks before she was comfortable with me wearing a suit and tie, but then she was alright, but didn't trust most guys ...

She turned out to be "my dog" even though she loved my wife, her heart was bonded with mine, and she seemed to know that we were trustworthy, and we spoiled her, at times it seemed that she remembered her past life, but enjoyed her new life with appreciation!
