Tractor
Massey Ferguson 1648 with a Massey DL130 Loader, Massey 1455v, NH 477 Haybine, NH 268 Hayliner, Pequea Rotary Rake 1140, Pequea Turbo Tedder TT2000, Dixie Cjopper Classic zero turn, Kubota RTV900XT, Woods BB72x 3pt rotary mower, Woods B96 mower
Time to buy a second tractor. Looking at a new Kubota MX 5400HST or a Kioti NS5601.Shuttle. May still look for low hour used. Question. I trust Kubota as I now have L7060 and love it. I was looking at Case/Farmall and was told by a Case dealer that I needed to keep in mind that Case does not make the smaller Farmall line LS does. LS also makes medium range New Holland. Am I wrong not to trust LS. Looks like an old Ford. and from what I can gather has quality issues and is not very reliable. Thoughts and opinions most welcome. Had Massey in the past with mixed results.

I'm a little confused on your model numbers ...

The best I can figure is you maybe have an L 5060? Or a M 7060 (they just released, or are in the process of a new L6070)

Kioti makes a NS5610 ... Not a NS5601 ...

Curious on why the new tractor would be a MX size? Not a M if you have a Grand L already?

Yes, a MX has a stronger hydraulic lift capacity than an L, but the two are very similar in sizes ... The M is a true utility tractor, if that's what your wanting ...

What are your plans for this new tractor, is it for a different location?

my 1st thoughts too. anything less than M utility would be redundant
i once owned MX5000...the MX can't come close to holding a candle to the Utility series, no comparison. purchase wisely, the MX is a compact tractor.

Tractor would be used with the loader, horse manure, gravel (But not often), dirt (again not often) odd lifting jobs. Ted hay, rake hay. I use the M7060 to run the small baler. Second cut brush hog work with 8 footer. Use the M7060 for the heavy brush hog work. three foot+ tall first time in pasture. Push snow when needed. Empty manure spreader. I have looked seriously at 60HP Massey. Very good interest rates.

I have a small LS tractor and comparing it to one I traded in on it, which I thought was well engineered and built, I was impressed with the design considerations, creature comforts, and workmanship of my LS. Bought it in Jan. '21 so I have had it long enough to see what it's worth. I'd have the brand at the top of my shopping list! They seem to have smaller dealerships but I don't need dealerships as nothing breaks!

Just because one has a large dealership doesn't necessarily mean it's good for you. In buying my first new tractor after retiring in 2005, I shopped the big guys too and they had nice service shops and all that which were full and the "to be repaired lot" was full.........

I bought an off breed (then) from a small dealer and I got faster service that I figured I'd get from the large dealer......nothing required a trip to the dealer!!!!!

The only reason to buy a new tractor is personal preference. i bought a 2003 Massey Ferguson 451 2WD (52 HP) W/ FEL and forks for $14,000 last year, it had 513 hrs on the clock. The 4WD model is about $2k more. It is made in Brazil, and everything is made very heavy-duty.
I'm quite satisfied with the tractors performance and reliability.

The MX is not a compact tractor. It is a light duty utility tractor that can run Cat. 2 implements. No it’s not in the M series class, but neither is it in the L, LX, or B series compact class.

That's kinda what I did, not only to save money, but to stay away from computers and emissions ...

I got an 2005 Kubota 4X4 with cab (no loader) for $16K

Give Massey Ferguson a look.
We’ve had 2 or 3 other threads recently where a tractor shopper was leaning Kubota, but went with Massey instead. They found the MF to be much heavier duty and heavier in weight, too. Weight is power and stability that makes your tractor more useful & versatile.

could well be true. difficult to say as one jumps from one category to another in Kubota models... then there's the Grand L series too boot

My point is that one should carefully study the models before jumping into the next model. this forum s filled with "wish i had gone..."

believe me, i made mistakes myself before my final trade in to my current model tractor that meets my needs perfectly, best regards

Very true. I know Kubota lists the MX as a utility tractor, but of course it’s not as heavy or capable as the larger M models.

it's amazing just how many models/options mostly non commercial users as ourselves have on the market today. compared to the old days when i had the ol' Massey TO35

learned the hard & expensive way, it pays to do the the homework to make the right choice. & try not go get into the purchase fever along the way, best regards

LS makes CUTs for NH and Case. They do not make the utility tractors, such as the Workmaster 50-60-70 series and Workmaster 55-65-75 series. While LS makes the tractor, it is sold and serviced by NH or Case. NH and Case dealers are usually pretty stable and well stocked with parts. Parts for the most part are the same, just a slightly different part number. NH does use their own loaders.

My Kubota dealer told me the MX has a heavier differential, axles etc. than the grand. In any case I'm real happy with the MX5200 as an all around utility tractor for dirt moving, mowing, and road maintenance.

I've been looking at compacts in the HP range that the OP mentions and the 2860M (2m.60) power shuttle would be a great option- Made in Japan by Iseki, known for quality manufacture. Also maybe a YT359 by Yanmar, also made in japan by a high quality manufacturer - issue here is likely to be presence of a good dealer. Both slip in the middle between Kubota and Kioti price wise but are capable and have a great feature assortment.

For a small utility a MF 4707 would be a great choice

Kubota verse Kioti videos show Kubota hydraulics to be superior to Kioti hydraulics. Mostly on loader operations.

I have an NS6010, previously had NX6010, got both as left over inventory at a very good price. The Deadong diesel is pretty much bullet proof IMO - zero issues with either tractor. NX vs NS are very similar, but I preferred the NX cockpit vs the NS, which is just a littler bit smaller and only has entry step on one side. I prefer the NS loader controls vs the NX which were had a problematic joystick actuator which I replaced 2x in 400 hours. It was an easy fix, and the part was $120, but still a PITA. Kioti has a good warranty, but dealer is a big factor - I have dealt with 3 kioti dealers, two were great one was a shyster.
