Wind takes parts of the trees down, but Ash is pretty tough and breaks in really weird ways.Or wait until after the next wind event?
When these were in their last death throws I took dozens down from 20-100 feet tall (talk about a lot of firewood). I still have at least a dozen or so large ones deep in the woods, but being so large, hitting the trail is a very real possibility.
We hear tree drops all the time, so they are slowly dropping, hoping this winter finished them off.
Typical break, trail is at the end of this tree top about 60 feet away.
