We missed a white Christmas this year because rain melted the snow two days before Christmas. I woke up this morning to this wintry scene. Not a lot, but some needed moisture.

Here in northern Michigan, was a green Christmas. We have had a bit of snow since, but I can still see the grass poking up. Jon

A month or so ago we had an inch or two of snow. It's long gone. Instead we are getting rain. Rain, fog & cold temps every day. Maybe some snow in Feb or March.

I haven’t heard of too many places getting normal snow this year. All of our ski areas are open, but they don’t have the base depth that is normal for early January.

Here in Maine we received rain.

What an interesting winter thus far.

I don't think you can say "White Christmas" or "White New Year" anymore. Some might say it's racially motivated.

Winter came early down here. We hit a brutally cold 45 around the first part of December. It's now 37 and my heater is blasting! Looks like I'm staying in today. I might venture out later. I got a new long-sleeve shirt for Christmas.

Hope to be picking strawberries in late February.

I will be picking raspberries in August. 😆

12 here this morning and supposedly a big snow coming in next week. Not holding my breath on that.
Sunny and cold here today (21 degrees) but snow forecast for Sunday/Monday.

Snow storms just give me an excuse NOT to go outside. I prefer to read a book in front of the bio-mass stove and toast my feet instead.

I like snow. Always did. Winters like we've had so far suck, can't do "winter" stuff outside because there's no snow, but it's a little too cold to do anything else, plus the ground is frozen.

We had maybe 6" on the ground, but rain and temperatures in the 50s in mid-December did that in. Lots of media hype over a storm coming tonight/tomorrow, but the bulk of it will be south of us.

No white New Year's here either. I spent New Year's day out in an area about 80 miles west of my place in what's called the "Lava Beds". No snow to worry about - until two days ago weather was warm and dry.

Looking at the Black Rock Desert from the Lava Beds:

Two days ago the weather pattern changed. Now we have about 5" of snow on the ground...and the forecast is for snow and snow showers for the next 10 days. Telephoto shot of my neighbor's place:

It "snowed" most of the day yesterday. Wahoo!!! I have about 3/4" on the ground. Just about enough to make everything white.

We got about 6" overnight, and still coming down. A good start, though rain is predicted mid-week.
As expected, heaviest accumulations are in southern N.H.

A LOT of Deserteagle71's photos could be on a post card. Amazing scenery (and photography)!

All the "joy" of our snow whitewashing are gone. It's +5 F this morning and looks like it will be this way, or colder, for the next few days. Fortunately - only gentle breezes.

I am so fortunate to be surrounded by trees, lol, they do cut down on the wind hitting the house.

Weather predictors are saying we might get snow Sunday night and into Monday morning. 2 to 4 inches are possible. The high for Monday is 27F.

It's not unusual to get snow once or twice a year in my area of East Texas. The stores will have panic shopping this weekend, and the schools will close on Monday, maybe Tuesday. Most people will just stay home and the roads will all look deserted. It's my favorite holiday!!!

We're already stocked up on feed for the animals. I got some square bales to put in the barn for the goats. We had 5 babies yesterday. The other animals will get some extra feed and we will get the heaters out for the water tanks tomorrow.

I'll start the generators. I've already filled all the propane tanks and gas cans.

Two years ago they got it wrong when they predicted snow. Instead of 2 inches, we got six. Instead of it melting the next day, it got colder, and then colder and even colder by the end of the week. Temps where down to -8F, power was out for 5 days and I was carrying buckets of water to the animals three times a day because our generator at the time wasn't big enough to power the heaters for their water.
