Ugliest Yanmar contest

Since Yanmars are almost indestructible and old as the hills, there are a few out there that just amaze me that they still run and function.
If you see one that RUNS and is as ugly as this one...... Post it!

That looks well looked after, even if it looks like it has had an interesting life. Any idea of the history? That ROPS/cab is a chunk of work, with all sorts of features.

Well here's a contender. 2006 photo when I put a ROPS on it. It hasn't gotten any prettier in the next 17 years. Still runs like a (noisy!) clock.

Having a ugly tractor is like having a ugly kid.
Parents know it and love them, they just sit on the visitors side of the field..

So maybe you won't find many people posting pictures of their tractor..

Why? It is a pretty long list, with a long history. Yanmar, Deutz/Fahr, John Deere, Oliver, Steiger, Case,...

I'm cleaning up the 1963 Ford blue now!! I touched up the Grn. and Red Yanmar over a decade ago with Fredricks touchup. I'm amazed how well it held up. The ford blue is cleaning up really well. Old dirty motor oil mixed in gas has soaked the dirt and grease almost off. Wire brushing the hard to get spots now. That has always worked well on cleaning up old Eng. Trans. etc.. It's over a 1/2 century's worth is my guess.

20+ Years ago, I had a 30hp 790 Deere that was made by Yanmar. It was ugly, but tougher than nails. The only reason it couldn' push something with the FEL that weighed 2.5 times the tractor weight because it ran out of gravity. I'll have to see if I can dig up some old pictures of it.

Not quite winners but maybe honorable mention?

The YM186D on the left dyno-tested higher than its spec horsepower. At age 30+.
Every panel had dents. I wondered if there had been an angry girlfriend sometime in the past.
This is Yanmar's smallest model with PowerShift. Great for mowing and rototilling under the canopy of my orchard trees.

Then after several years search I found what I really wanted. Same but with the rare power steering option, and factory loader. Sold the first one. (and moved its better wheels/tires to this one).
I bought a new plastic upper grille for this one but I haven't installed it. Some day I'll take the hood to an auto body shop to get it shaped right.

Lookin good for their age. They made the headlight cowling out of plastic that breaks, but at least they used real metal mesh for the radiator grill. IMO, I suspect 40 year Kubotas will be faded to something much more hideous.

YM260 - Is that an air-cooled engine??

YM260 must be rare. The only Google hits were an auction in Belgium and one in Hokkaido Japan. (Japan's far north, its coldest part).
