The Life of a Custom Mowing contractor

People have become so impatient and will pass at anytime any where and it is only a matter of time before someone gets killed. All it takes is a log truck coming around the corner and that person passing is going to be in trouble because they didn't wait. A lot of people don't even let up and pass at full speed. Not even taking the time to see what's coming at them.

Had my first implement/vehicle accident. Person tried to pass on a narrow dirt road and discovered there wasn't room after rubbing the mower and could not complete the pass. The very next day had a vehicle pass at full speed around a corner and get back in our lane in front of me before hitting my driver head on who was coming from the other direction. Just a normal day.

I help out a buddy of mine that farms my place. I help him move equipment, grain trucks and wagons and I cut most of the hedgerows for him. He just this season bought a 12 row folding corn header. It folds to the width of the combine. Really nice for roading. The other interesting thing here in SC is you aren't required to have a CDL to drive farm tractor trailer. As long as it's on the way to the grain bins or moving equipment.

We aren’t required to have a CDL in PA for farm machinery & trucks, either.
But I have one anyways.

I had mine for years and never used it. I gave it up when the medical became such a pain.

I enjoy your thread. That you actually take the time to take pictures is the key. I do a lot of interesting stuff and run some pretty neat equipment but I just don't have the discipline to chronical my actions. Heck, most people on here would be amazed at the work I do. I know I am, every day I'm in a power plant. I work for a company that's in the Pittsburgh area. How far are you from there?

Thanks.
There are many times I wish I had taken pictures, but didn’t.
I am clear across the state near Wilmington, DE
