2023 Kubota l4060
Debated for several days on a new l4060 and did the deal today. Pick it up tomorrow. Cant wait. Anyone have a new one? Want to put a 3rd function on it but can't find one for the l4060. The loader joystick has a button built into it for full throttle. Would hate to eliminate that for the 3rd function.

There is a You Tube video I think you will find worth watching at
. It is Messicks and they even have a an ordering mechanism built in to this webpage ... sales of course being the object.. but still good info. They are on board with WR Long brand 3rd function kits and I think you will find the majority of 3rd ftn kits sold are that brand. No idea in the world whether they preserve the 'full throttle' thing ..and now that I think of it, why would anyone want a Full Throttle control built into or anywhere on a FEL joystick?

p.s.: the Messick's You Tube Video mentions a phone number at the end where you can call them and discuss details and ask questions.

Good video. I looked on the sites though and dont see one called out for the l4060. Never have had a loader with the full throttle button. May not end up liking it and remove it when installing a 3rd function kit. I could see it coming in handy though with loading and unloading things like round bales, dirt, gravel.

That's one hell of an upgrade from your Max 26XL!

the full throttle button is actually adjustable, you can set it to the rpm you want. what disappointed me was that it is spring loaded momentary so you have to keep your thumb on the button to keep rpm's up. it would have been handy to be able to run a pto implement with the button and be able to drop the rpm and let the autothrottle do its thing when moving around then be able to be back up to pto rpm with the flick of a button. think clearing driveways of snow down a residential street.

For the third function I chose the kubota OEM option because I like stuff that looks like it belongs. a nice clean install. I have never seen a wr long third function kit maybe they have the same look.

This was new to me too. It's not really a "full throttle" switch. Rather, it's a "throttle up" switch that will increase RPMs to a pre-set level for "loader work", etc.

I can see where that might be handy, but that does complicate the addition of a 3rd function button to the joystick. What does Kubota do if you have them add a 3rd function??

Not sure what Kubota does if you add there OEM kit. Im getting ready to go pick it up and ill ask them. Sounds like OEM might be my only option right now.

If the question is does the OEM 3rd function kit delete the throttle up button, the answer is no. I used the throttle up control frequently when pushing into dirt and brush piles. I have mine set to 2000rpm in the control panel.
You're going to love your new L4060! After 7 years and 800 hours mine is still a joy to operate.

Good info! Does the OEM 3rd function just add another button to the top of the loader joystick? I'd be very interested in seeing what it looks like if you can take a picture. I searched all of the Kubota info I could find and still couldn't find a pic or description of how they incorporate both features into the joystick.

This is one of the main design changes, related to operator controls, in the 40 series vs the 60 series.

Thanks!

The throttle up button is on the front of the stick, and round.
The 3rd function is a left / right toggle on the rear of the stick.
This is the OEM setup that was dealer installed prior to delivery.

The last picture is an aftermarket 3rd function hose protection. The hydraulic hoses are terribly exposed with the factory 3rd function option. The bolt on kit was made by Specialty Repairs, Paul Short. He's on the web in Newfoundland (?) and has an account here on TBN.

I've got to chime in here and recommend Specialty Repairs Custom Mods; they worked with me to fit some of their products for my Kioti and I've been nothing but impressed. Paul and Kathy were wonderful to work with, and I like to give them props any time I get the opportunity.

Kubota, like Deere, has a massive aftermarket with a whole lot of fun or useful items to be had.

OEM 3rd function enable button on my L4060hstc is hose clamped to the joystick below the handle. Rather hacky for an OEM install, but I've seen several others setup the same way.

The open/close buttons to run the 3rd function are seperate from the idle up button & im 90% sure were built into the stock handle. I got the 3rd function preinstalled so csnt confirm. I'm trying to remember if they are finger or thumb offhand & forgetting. But they are different than the high idle button. I have both buttons on mine. I don't use my high idle button much other than running my SSQA post hole digger. I use the 3rd function buttons for the PHD & power angle on the SSQA plow.

Ill 2nd that. Have the skid plate to protect my low hanging 3rd function plumbing & the panel to cover the loader QD fittings.

Very neat setup with the toggle button on the joystick. Thanks for the pics and the explanation! Really nice tractor!

What top speed do you all get out of your l4060? Spec sheet says itll do 16.8 best i can get is 15 on the road. Stall guard was on though. Would that cut it back at all?
