That looks like 2wd. Why isn't it sunk to the frame?
He's surely running a rototlller so its like he has 16 wheel drive, to keep moving. That looks like 2wd. Why isn't it sunk to the frame?
... But in this case he still has to have the respect of the widow neighbor after he has it up and running. Therefor my suggestion to tinker with it, to better appraise a fair price and not lose a friend.I would buy it "as is, where is" lest tinkering cause any backsliding on price or ownership.
If you have $3,000 cash in hand to offer her, I bet she'll let it go.She has lots of stuff to sell since her fellow died about 2 years ago, including this 240D all setting outside and rusting away. I asked about it here to see if it was serviceable and practical for our needs. She did say she had someone interested in it, but now you guys got me somewhat interested.![]()

The fuel sat for a while, so purge the fuel bowl, drain the tank, add fresh, bleed the lines to the injectors would get the fuel side flowing to start. I would also open the air cleaner box to ensure o critters made a winter home in there for the past few years.
Since you are just north of me on US-41, I would expect the clutch to be stuck. There are tricks to un-stick the clutch. If the tractor was parked in neutral, a stuck clutch isn't too bad to start or to the YM240 onto a trailer. The only problem would be stuck rear brakes.
I too would echo, NEVER use starting fluid on a diesel. I've used REM oil and it's way safer for the engine.
Front axle has to be NBD, it's really simple. Something like an old Ford pickup front axle could be modified by welding to replace it, worst case, if you couldn't find any way to repair it.Same Ym2700 I'm sure showed up a few Hrs. ago. Facebook Market. Down to 1800.00$ Must be more than just the front end problem ?
Yes, REM as in Remington Oil. Works great! It's not as heavy as diesel and not as light as starting fluid.Maybe I'm a fool here, but RemOil? Remington's firearms lubricant and cleaner?
Arly, it's a shame you weren't able to nab this Yanmar; as I was reading through the thread I was thinking it would be a fun winter project, and that come Spring you'd have a good little tractor to work with.
Well, if it wasn't meant to be, so be it; you're going to find the right machine, especially with your patience.
