Yesterday, while up at the woodlot, found these nuts/fruits on the ground:

They look like tiny cheatnuts. There are several types of trees mixed together where I found the,, so I cannot tell which one is dropping them. Any ideas?

Harry had a barkfest because of this critter that landed on the deck:

Good-sized beetle!

78F and sunny @ 12:30, heading up to around 86F - 88F ... depending on who you are looking at. HI 79F, DP 64F, HU 60%, AQI 84.

Ten Day now shows 4 days with decent chances of rain, none higher than about 50% though.

Got a bunch of spraying done yesterday as the winds were light and variable which they are supposed to be again today. Went through one 2 gallon tank and then mixed up another. Used about 1/2 gallon of the 2nd tank so far.

Also gathered compostables and took them up to the pile.

Saw the mother groundhog again out at the bird feeders ... she dug her way out at the burrow entrance at the northwest corner of the garage ... tried to sneak out with the shotgun and get a shot but it seems no matter how stealthily I am she's already back in the burrow before I can get a bead. They must have very good hearing. Probably going to have to have to go with the live trap.

Fortunately, I have not seen any of her offspring ... so I may have eliminated them.

Woman went out grocery shopping yesterday, stopped by the Rib Man who was set up out at the archery center and picked up a slab. Had 3 ribs, oven baked cubed potatoes seasoned with Lipton Onion Soup Mix and a large salad for dinner. Very tasty.

Plenty of leftovers ... so will probably be on the menu again today ... which is just fine with me.

Agenda for the rest of the day:

Refill hopper feeder.

Some weed whacking with battery operated string trimmer.

More glyphosate spraying.

Move remainder of mulch on pallet in circle out for easier access.

East side and over leach field due for mowing again.

Possibly get shrub bucket put on and dig out some hosta and day lilies for transplanting.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday ... (y)

BEF, Canaan Valley/Dolly Sods is high elevation and so nice, but surprised it got below freezing already. Glad you shared this. BTW, now is a good time to see leaves on the trees in NH...they have lots of them until November. :ROFLMAO:
I used to own land on a mountain top near DollySods.

Good worship this morning, very good lesson. I had song leading. Last weekend for our usual lunch place to be still closed, so went to the pizza place we had breakfast at yesterday. Good food there also. We had 13 or 14 people there.
Warming up today, going to get hot this week. Need to get trash and recycle out tonight when it cools off. Hope a nap soon.

Spent most of the day painting inside, again. But we did receive delivery of a new washing machine and I had to remove the dryer and some storage shelves in order to move it into place. Delivery truck was huge, and broke off some limbs on some trees by the driveway...so had to spend an hour with the pole saw cleaning up. The guy didn't confess (I didn't find it until walking up to get the mail)...jerk. Based on the mess, likely did a number on his truck, too. But, nice washer. I finished the painting on this project, removed all Frog tape, reinstalled light fixtures, showered, ate dinner and crashed.
You sure did earn your dinner and desert as well. :)

Did it take a lot of carving and sanding to do the coffee cup handle?
I drilled three holes with my drill press on the inside and tried to cut most of it with the bandsaw on the outside. Still took me a couple of days/hours to make. One of the harder projects I have tried.
