Good morning!!!!

Morning all, 67 going up to 80 and sunny.
Had some rain last night, again. no watering today needed.
Got some peaches from the tree, small but decent. Need to get a few before the critters take them.

Son playing at the VFW tonight, last showing for one of the bands he is in as 2 members leave for college.

Order is in for garage sheetrock and some electrical work. Should arrive any day now in many packages.

Work is getting weirder, new boss on one project asked to leave early, so 4th boss on this one project since start of the year. New, New, New, New boss has little experience running large programs, so we will support her and hope for the best.

I update GM pretty late every day since I usually do it after the first round of morning meetings. Having the team for this one project all in the UK and no through to spreading the team to the major sites, makes it hard to get things done.

Be well,

Sounds like someone needs to have an “unofficial coordination meeting” with the new new mew new boss, and just basically explain that the workers’ purpose is to make the boss look good, and in order to do that the boss has to keep unnecessary BS from interfering with the workers actually accomplishing the work…

Good Morning!!!! 73F @ 5:00AM. Cloudy early, becoming mostly sunny this afternoon. High 76F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Yes, Drew, it seems we have a hurricane off the coast of Baja that is predicted to head north over the weekend. Should get into the area Monday as a tropical storm, and bring a half inch of rain. Pretty unusual, but it'll be interesting to see what the house does with the water.

Last MRI I had, Drew, they put headphones on me and asked what kind of music I liked. I asked for Bob Segar and got it. Hardly heard the clicking and buzzing, but had a harder time keeping still.

We were supposed to see a rocket launch in the wee hours this morning, but it's been postponed until Monday @ 11AMish. That's the second or third postponement. And with the hurricane prediction, odds are it'll get postponed again.

Got one of those patch plugs leaking in a 1/2" drip line that needs replaced with a splice. Thanks for the reminder, Ted!

I'm slowly working my way through the kitchen drawers, cutting liners and organizing to make stuff easier to find. I do it while waiting for the oats to cook every morning, nary a minute wasted.

Yesterday I learned that the locks here are the newer SmartSet type from KwikSet, and are a whole lot easier to rekey than the old style. Instead of swapping out the tumbler pins, you just use a little reset tool, which I found in my box of locks, and twist the old and new keys in a particular pattern. Unless you have a lock for which you don't have a key, and I have two of those. That involves disassembling the innards and aligning side pins, thank goodness for YouTube. So have eight of the ten locks done, and will fiddle with the last two this morning. Don't have a set of magnifiers here, so have to wait for strong light out on the picnic table to continue.

Finally got through to the home warranty people, who said the warranty hasn't funded yet, so give it another week or three. Also cautioned that it doesn't cover preexisting conditions, so the busted microwave may or may not be covered. The home inspector found it to be in working condition, but when I tried it the morning after escrow closed, it wouldn't turn on. So I'll play dumb and wait a few weeks to file the claim. And in the mean time shop for a tiny microwave I can also use while camping.

Also setup a day for the termite abatement work, all the way out i October. Lots of job security in that line of work I guess.

A big box with a new trash bin for the kitchen showed up, along with a little box with a key fob controller for the garage doors. The house didn't come with any for some reason. So programming the remote is also on today's agenda.

Still fiddling with hot tub water, slowly bringing the pH up and trying to get the chlorine levels down. Begining to think the expired test strips I've been using might not be giving accurate readings, and have a new batch that should come today.

Be well,

Sounds like me, I have a bad case of the Mondays, every day. At least you meet/met. :)

Usually when I get tasked with a new work order, it is because it is, shall we say....something is failing.

This week has been interesting, we have very detailed requirements on what we need to perform certain tasks. I get this work in the middle of the week, I pick up the resources and go prod for the information....
seems someone or some teams have missed the boat. That's a major snafu. Course it being a Friday....the assistance calls go straight up the food chain. "who are you..and why are you calling me?"....cause your support staff seems to be unreachable. "Impossible"....yeah, here are the numbers. Please alert them for us. A lot of people are going to have a bad start to the weekend. LOL.

Mortgage rates hit 7.09 %. That's terrible for folks trying to buy a new home.

Scott(vt) is the 1 1/2 rock different size than you have used in the past?

going to be a long day, have a lower back MRI scheduled tonight at 7:30pm. Hospital backed up over two weeks to get a
non emergency MRI and could only give me a night appt.
Good Morning Guys,
Drew, the good news is that cash accounts are actually paying out some interest !

mostly_gas,
Yes, I have used 3/4-1" process in the past, hopefully the larger process wont flip and roll as easily in heavy rain, creating ruts, etc. My neighbor is impressed with the way his DW is holding up with this material !

Drew, best of luck with the MRI when you finally get it !

63 to start going to 73 or so !

All have a blessed and safe day !

looks like some lovely weather for our weekend

good PT session, left feeling energized vs worn out, ladies there liked their four D's.
They got from Drew dark cherries, dates and danish.

need to go load suspension parts into rv and get it ready to take off early tomorrow for BIL's shop.
There his son will put rv up on a lift and install the new rear sway bar and the front sumo plastic jounce stoppers.

hospital called, rescheduled MRI two hours earlier, fine by me.

Scott, I agree, for first time in many, many years bought CD's recently.

Half the corn pulled. Guess I need to continue. Best weather day we will have for a good while

To bad inflation is taking away any gains in interest.

Good morning! Low of 60°, heading upwards to 91°. Hotter for the next 5 days. No rain chances until next Wednesday...... which is all subject to change.....

Sure looked like we were going to get some rain / storms yesterday. Dark clouds, thunder, nope---- no rain...not a drop. Somewhere around 83-85 days without rain.

On our way up to Santa Fe, we are basically driving through the mountains 90% of the way.... really dry, there were a lot of dead and dying trees. Not going to be a good wildfire season.
Wish we could get some of that hurricanes moisture......

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes.
Fritz, wow! 58 years.... THAT is a milestone!

Drew, hope you can find the hot tub leak. Hopefully repairable if it's around the pump. A friend of mine has an RV similar to yours, he added the rear swaybar, some high dollar Bilstein shocks, and those spring thingies up front. He also changed out the front sway bar with one that was about double the size of OEM. He said it was a dramatic improvement with the handling.

We have been entertained by the never ending acrobatics of the hummingbirds. Now counting 12 performers.....
They'll get some fresh juice shortly.

Not sure what might get on the agenda today after going to the grocery store. I'm sure something.....

Everyone have a great day!

65F and Fair @ 10:15, only heading up to around 70F for the day's high ...

Got meds doled out then got last of front mowed plus west side and back down here around the house.

Also got most of the compost/woodlot mowed as well, it was getting pretty tall (up to 6") Will have to hit that again to get it cut down to normal height.

Got screened compost spread out in northeast planting bed.

Got out battery string trimmer and started whacking down weeds in the southeast planting bed:

IMG_2929 copy.jpg

Looks like most of the hosta and all the rhododendrons we planted in there have survived and are doing well. Letting the weeds grow up around them has probably provided some cover and protection from the deer.

Once I get the weeds all cut down I'll hit what remains of them with some glyphosate.

Reconfigured monofilament fence on north side of garden and shortened it up, adding some loops so it could be unhooked easily for access. Now have entries on the south and north sides.

Got Cub put away in the barn after I finished. Grabbed the roll of 4' chickenwire on my way out and tossed into the Kubota's bucket. Need to make up some more tall cages.

Line of storms rolled in around 19:00 or so with some pretty good booms, dropped another 0.75" of rain. Should get us out of having to water for a few days.

Agenda for today:

Refill hopper and tube feeders.

Mix up a couple of gallons of glyphosate. No spraying though as the winds are supposed to be 15 - 25 mph.

Probably be a good day to get some mulch put on the flower bed on the east side of the frog pond, given the cool temps and wind. Makes working out in the sun tolerable.

Should be some tomatoes that will need picked.

Do some straightening up in the garage.

Maybe clean off the underside of the deck on the Cub.

Plus whatever else comes up.

Pollinators working hard to make sure we don't run out of thistle:

Hope everyone is having a Good Friday ... (y)
