Three hooks are great to have, gives you options.

I prefer a slip hook in the middle. Link hooks outside.

I also like the clevis idea.

Now, there's a man who likes to keep his options open!

Wishing I had thought to do a receiver in the middle, although since my need for one is lower than the top lip of the bucket, it'd have to be punched thru vertically, to use with the bucket rolled forward.

The largest wire my mig will run is .035. Is this big enough to do hooks on a bucket? Sorry to hijack the thread…. But I need to do hooks this winter on the new bucket.
I put my hooks on with .030 wire and a CO2 bottle. Cranked the welder all the way up and made sure to get well into both sides. Don't hurry. If I want to connect to the center I loop the chain around the 2 hooks and hook back to itself in the center. Of course I do have one extra hook ... you all got me thinking

How do you use the receiver? I can't see how you would be able to hook it up on a trailer unless it's a goose neck ?
I think you would need a big ole drop hitch and then you would be working blind... just like forks on a bucket - Ugh!
I chose a SSQA receiver hitch from titan.

ha ya a big drop hitch make sense... my technique it to have a chain off my 3 point arms then I back up until the chain get under the trailer tongue, lift and back up some more, lower on the hitch and off I go ...

Your are right. Top hitch mount receiver for larger tractors have limitations.

B26 is a small tractor with a low height bucket. Most of my hitches are 4-6” drop. Pintle hitch is easy.

I got a sleeve hitch mounted center of bucket on my massey, the previous owner mounted it. Yeh, that thing should be used gently, it did slightly bend the top of my bucket...dunno if the previous owner's use did it, or me using it. You could even kinda see it in this pic:

In any case, I added Kenny's hooks on mine on each side of the bucket, with clevis brackets on the underside of them. That's really handy, I use them a bunch.

Holy crap, that one looks frightening. On a related note, I just picked my Halloween costume.

Dad bolted regular chain hooks with 2 or 3 links each with the bolt going through the last link to the top lip of the bucket of his JD 1070. Jon

I am fortunate the heaviest thing I have
to lift is my generator so I use straps don't
have to move it very often and if I cut these
cedars I just lay a strap on the ground and
pile on the cedars and then use the straps
to attach to the bucket the straps have the
ratchet so can compress the cedars to move
If I was going to put hooks on I would use 3
one on each end and one in the middle with
the open end facing the tractor. I even have
one of these but don't have a use for it

I use a pair of tongs like that to lift logs out of my trailer, using the two corner hooks mounted atop my bucket. Very handy, in fact I can usually get them onto a log without leaving the seat. One is easy, but two takes some practice.

I have the in two sizes, as they really only hold well on a limited range of log diameter.

I used 4 hooks total two slip hooks and two grab hooks, they are about 6 inches apart on both ends of the bucket, I also added a piece of 1 1/2 square tubing to the top edge of my bucket.

I put one on each side and a receiver in the middle. Can use it with a hook or with a ball mount to move trailers.
Best Idea. Keep hooks at the Outside of the bucket for max strength.

Pros or cons to adding the bolt on hooks?

Hooks, hooks....are there ever enough hooks? Are they ever in the proverbial "Right Place" when you're trying to drag, pull, lift or load?

Good friend has same tractor with material bucket, but NO Hooks...drives me crazy when we're working at his place.

Gotta love hooks. I use 4 on my digging bucket and 2 on my material bucket. More is always better...like tractors, guns, tools & pickup trucks.
