I don't have a time-of-day option. When I did (in NJ) I was able to shift 2/3 of my usage to off hours. But the NJ off peak rate was still higher than the regular rate in PA. NJ sucks in every respect.
Americans for the most part have no idea of what Europe pays for energy and taxes. Here customers have 2 options - follow pool (with a little mark-up) or go fixed rate.
First option is nice, if you can run big consumers at night, normally - from 2300 till 0600. Like I have 2 EVs and I benefit a lot from this Sometimes, in windy nights rates was even negative.
But then come that crisis and during midday rate have hit even 1 €/kWh
To smoothen my invoice I have made deal with my electricity supplier on 0.09 €/kWh flat. With supply fee and taxes it makes ~ 0.12 €/kWh. And that is considered rather low rate across EU
BTW - petrol here now is 1,6 €/litre
Diesel - 1,5 €/L
Have heard that in Finland petrol prices now are over 2 €/L
At first reading I got you a bit wrong.Americans for the most part have no idea of what Europe pays for energy and taxes.
So that would be about $6.89/gal for gas and $6.47 for diesel (doesn't seem too high for Europe). In 2012 when I was touring the Austrian/Italian Alps by MC I paid about $9.25/gal for gas in Cortina. It was not as bad in Austria. And last time I was in Ireland I think the VAT was 21%.

Interesting.At first reading I got you a bit wrong.So I edited
6,89 $ = 6,06 EUR
1 gal = 3,785 L
So thats equal 1,6 €/l for gas
and
1,5 €/l for diesel
But you have to consider that I live in quite cheap country. I / NL / FR / UK taxes a lot heavier than our government does.
Here screen from one popular retailer's today prices:

Gas we do have 2 grades available. 90 % of folks use E95. Those with M; RS; AMG; etc use E98. I fill my motorrad with e98 either. Just because
The same with diesel. Regular dudes go with standard D. Pro is for feinshmeckers
But for my Yanmar I buy PRO, because that contains less bio-$h%t. In regular diesel that "bio" is tended to "grow" a kind of algaes if left for longer while.
