Brand new KIOTI dead on arrival

If I were in corporate, each morning I'd search this site, and any other tractor sites, for new postings with my tractor name. Anything bad (like this thread), I'd be on the phone to regional, telling them to get it fixed. Kioti got a lot of bad press from this post.

I too, suggest to OP he keep the Kioti. If it's a bad tractor, he can sell it next year. If the wiring was just a fluke, he'll be happy for years to come.

There are reasons Kubota and Deere dominate the CUT and SCUT markets. And there is a reason so many other manufacturers are trying to enter the market - the search for profits.

The only reason to buy a brand other than K or D, is price. If one of those other brands picks up market share, and joins K and D, the Other Brand will no longer need to sell on the basis of price - and won't.

The price differential seems to be about 15%. None of us "don't need" our tractors. At purchase, a buyer needs to calculate the aggravation factor likely to be imposed by a 2nd rate dealer. Let's face it, if the dealer is first rate, it's selling K or D. Maybe there is a solution to purchase off brand from a dealer that also sells K or D.

I don't suggest there are no first rate dealers that only sell off brand tractors. But those dealers are likely new to the market place, may be under capitalized (how would a buyer know ?), may not have the best technicians, and may not get the best guidance from corporate.

When we bought our first computer (and software) for work, the selling manufacturer claimed that each member of top management had to have 3 successful experiences, with the same kind of responsibilities, for a high-tech company, prior to coming to the selling manufacturer. They still went out of business. My point - being new is not necessarily good.
I did that before buying a Kioti,
Ok I was too curious, so I re-scanned this whole thread. I counted 18 posters with 15 or less posts on the forum, half of whose responses were overwhelmingly negative. Several with 4 or less posts who were the most negative about Kioti. Bekenny.... that's not you making extra accounts just to add pressure on Kioti, is it?

"way dealer is treating you sounds downright criminal".... "lawyer up".... "lemon law"... etc. Way overkill for a first response here on the forum, wouldn't you say?

Also kinda weird how many people who just joined and started commenting happen to also have Kioti CK3510s. Who knows, maybe this is all just a simulation. LOL
ok, since it’s such a mystery, allow me to demystify.
Tractorbynet sends out forum emails in order to get more interest to the site.
I would imagine this is a hot topic that generates a lot of interest, since people pretty much hate corporate giants taking advantage of helpless consumers.
Last point, having a lot of posts of an Internet forum is not a sign of virtue or a more noble opinion, perhaps a sign of familial dysfunction. Go take your grandkids out to the park or something.

Right to repair remedies will not eliminate the need for specific diagnostic equipment nor the need for diagnostic software. And most certainly these items will not be inexpensive.
Diagnostic software is fine, as long as it's open source, or at least relatively affordable in the aftermarket. A cable to do fully professional VW/Audi diagnostics (with free software) is only like $175, not bad.

But we do need standardized DTCs, so we can diagnose what sensor may have gone bad at home. And being stuck in limp mode on your new John Deere combine, with no way to even start to work on it at home, because of one bad hydraulic pressure sensor is borderline criminal.

Haha, fair enough. I surf around here when I am stuck at work, but ok. My daughter just turned 2.... no grandkids for a while yet hopefully.

You can do it a lot cheaper than that. Pretty sure the last one I picked up was less than $25. The one I just picked up for the Ford was $19.

I don't ever expect a manufacturer to go far out of their way to make it easy to repair their product, and in many cases I prefer an "advanced system" knowing it will be harder to repair. But I've had a few times a manufacturer has intentionally tried to make something non repairable. My first CNC plasma table was a plasmacam, they kicked me off their owners forum for posting pics of the internals of the controller and asking which Mosfet was tied to a servo. They then threatened legal action if I revealed how I fixed my broken controller. I vote with my dollars, sold the unit and won't ever buy another from them.

The following forum rules shall govern the conduct of members of TractorByNet. In addition to these guidelines, our Terms of Use has an acceptable user policy in section 9, which all members are bound by and must agree to in order to sign in.

What's not allowed on TBN:

-Advertising or soliciting in message body or via PM (members with an "Advertiser" title are exempt from this rule but are prohibited from spamming via PM or posting duplicates of the same message in the forums)

-Insulting other members

-Arguing with other members, heated and unreasonable debate, "beating a dead horse" without any sign of rational thought process

-Concealing profanity in message

-Excessive use of profanity (whether filtered or not)

-Signature contains profanity, commercial links (unless an advertiser), inappropriate content, links to inappropriate content or content that appears to be there just to cause trouble.

-Discussion of religious topics

-Discussion of political topics

-Impolitely criticizing moderators, admins or site policies

-Mentioning dealer name in threads discussing problems or disputes with dealers

If you do any of these things, your messages may be deleted, or in some cases threads closed. Although rare, repeated offenses lead to account deletion or temporary bans.

Contrary to the implications in this post, the “Rules” listed here are not included in anything one agrees to when signing in to this forum.

These rules were posted by Muhammad on 2/21/17 under community forums, news/feedback. They are not obvious and finding them is not straightforward.

In fact they are inconsistent with forum rules listed under TractorByNet Support FAQs. In the FBN FAQs the rules are as follows:

“The forum rules are pretty simple. Do not post anything that is:
Vulgar
Sexual
Hateful
Threatening
Against the Law
Unpaid Advertising
Political
Brand Bashing”

Nothing in the FAQs involving “mentioning dealer names.”

Seems the Forum Rules are somwhat ambigous, much like Facebook.

Actually many of the laws that are being proposed are forcing the specific diagnostic software to have the API's published. While there can be things such as specific DTC's or connections either the software must or specifications must be given to the end user.

While I just replied to another post. I am fairly familiar with right to repair, as an IT person and a consumer that has been hosed by the "advanced systems" many times.

The above statement about preferring a "advanced system" knowing it will be harder to repair is a way wrong answer. We need diagnostics to always be available and easily so to the end user. This is especially true with equipment such as tractors, generators, health care equipment, cars or ANYTHING that must be relied upon. This hampers innovation, reliability and in the end our economy. Here is an example that far before right to repair put lives in danger by having "advanced systems" that made equipment harder to repair. Caterpillar has specific software to work on their engines, some of these engines are relied upon in life and safety situations, such as a generator for a hospital, 911 call center etc. We had an engine go down for a generator, it had a "non start" condition on what is a Critical 1 facility which meant if it and the others wouldn't start people would die, before Caterpillar allowed us to have the software this would have been fatal to people if we needed that motor to fire in an emergency condition to fix a simple sensor error that was controlled by the computer.

I own a Plasmacam system and seeing this really bothers me, what legal action did they threaten you with? I was just getting ready to upgrade mine and I won't if I can get some specifics about this. This is not good in any way. While I don't watch them that close there is no way in hell I can support a company that does this.

I am glad that your dealer found the problem, also I 100% expect a manufacture to easily repair and service a product.
