GC what is the cost for a battery replacement?
Several articles online trying to guess but there have been very few replacements. About $15,000 on eBay for Tesla 85 kWh.

After 7.5 years mine still has 250 of original 265 mile range.

Meanwhile I’m on the 3rd 12v battery which costs $272 installed. And having done it once myself the labor alone is with that.

Since my car was built the 12v has been relocated several times in new cars. It is that bad.

It sounds like you get a discount for electric use at night. I don't and I don't see why they would start that policy. That's kind of like gas stations giving you 10 cents off after 10:00 p.m. when it's slow, I haven't seen it. Time will tell but I don't see my electric prices going down in my lifetime. I think it's common knowledge that electricity customers use more electricity now than they did 30 years ago and the price has gone up not down. More likely due to the laws of supply and demand, electric rates will go up.

Iman gas stations have storage tanks.

Electric grids are just starting to get storage tanks thanks to Tesla and other grid storage battery manufactures.

Don't rush out and buy a new Tesla just because they are helping keep the lights on and reduce electric bills at the same time. :)

Tesla brings real solutions to real human needs.

On my ICE Kia the 12v battery it is located in the trunk under the spare tire. The trunk has no key, it is electronic open. Crazy.
Even the Kia dealership has a hard time figuring it out:

It depends on the local generating plants. Once coal or nuclear get up and running, they need to stay running. It's a PITA to shut them down, and a PITA to start them up again. Natural gas turbines can ramp up and down quickly. Hydro is fairly flexible. Wind can be shut down and start up again if the wind blows. If the majority of local generating capacity is coal or nuclear, they have to get rid of the energy somehow, thus the off hour discounts.

Bank of America projects 2022 oil prices near $100 on growing travel demand

I found this to be a good article. It doesn't spell out what will happen but takes several different paths that it prices could take.

Tesla and the other EV makers and the suppliers are driving the demand for fossil fuels higher and higher. Can you imagine how much diesel Giga Texas is burning running around the clock building the factory. Same thing in Germany China and battery companies are building all over the United States all over the world especially. Associated mining is done basically on diesel fuel.

Limetree Bay refinery to shut indefinitely

This is concerning if refinery installations age out at a time when fossil fuel demanding is on the rise.

The world stock markets are willing to fund EV development but not the past infrastructure for fossil fuels it seems. The pandemic side effects are going to hit us hard in the pocketbook from many different directions.

Tesla has no physical key to any of the doors. Not even to start the car. No on/off switch at all, just foot on brake and put it in gear.

There is a procedure to jump a dead 12V battery to power the door locks. Connector is hidden under the front grill or bumper.

Smart money was simply not willing to fund refurbishment of a poorly run refinery in the Caribbean. Especially when this means one can ship refined products from elsewhere, at higher cost to the locals.

Same thing in Iran/Iraq. Lots of crude oil but practically no refineries. Too many local terrorists.

Got a kick out of this a short at the end of this youtube video Best in Tesla with comparisons to the TV series Firebird Trans Am "KIT" car

Elon must have been a fan of Knight Rider
