I also read that, although it may have been the Reader’s Digest condensed version. Good suggestion though. About all that I remember is that when he sat down at his usual spot to get his shoes shined and the guy noticed the color of the hairs on his arm, he had to remember to shave them every day throughout his experiment.

Amazing! I remember that one little bit specifically also! The book really opened my eyes as to how difficult every day life was. Even an overnight trip was a big deal; just finding somewhere you could eat and sleep.

I'm finishing a book called **** Deus. Same guy that wrote Sapiens. I loved Sapiens, this one is ok. In Sapiens he talked about how we got here, in **** Deus he talks about where we are going.

In a nut shell he talks about our species evolution in the future now that we are making gods out of ourselves.

With AI, automation, robotics, genetic engineering and the like, we will have achieved god like status. Problem is, you get more people, live much longer, and for other than a small group of elites, nothing to do.

Have you ever read any of the Charlie Parker series by John Connolly? Or any of James Lee Burke's writing? I was down at my mother's house today but never thought to look; if the version of "Black like Me" was the RD condensed version she probably still has it.
