I read the same.
Have you ever read any of the Charlie Parker series by John Connolly? Or any of James Lee Burke's writing? I was down at my mother's house today but never thought to look; if the version of "Black like Me" was the RD condensed version she probably still has it.

I’ve read Charlie Parker but not any of Burke’s. I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation.

I’m on the Gabriel Allon series. The first book was tough to get thru but it got better fast.

yup

been reading that stuff for 50 years. I originally went to school or that. that's why i continue to say.......people are people.
Interesting...me too...plus a year of Anthropology. One of the most interesting subjects I ever studied. Thought of making it a major, but employment prospects were pretty grim for a country boy.

I like the series a lot.

SPOILER ALERT!!! Don’t read further if you want to read the books.

I only wish he would stop getting caught, beat senseless and is about to be killed - but magically get some amazing break and escape.

Then - after 400 pages where the bad guy can’t be touched, he miraculously sneaks in, kills the guy, escapes and no one is the wiser.

1976?, first year of grad school, met with proff, chit chat. At the time i was working full time 2nd shift in a union shop with unlimited overtime.

Turns out I was making more than the prof at the time. Lucky we all got laid off and "retrained" by uncle sam. In my case it worked, I paid a lot more taxes than most profs!

I read that a tenured prof is the most stress free job in the USA!

I found a book titled 'How to Solve Half your problems'....I bought two copies...!

On a serious note...
...Those familiar with Harlan Coben's "Myron Bolitar" series...there is a new series featuring Myron's oft "backup" 'Win' Win (Windsor Horne Lockwood III Book 1)...the first novel was recently #1 on the NYT best seller's list...

Also Andy Weir (who wrote 'The Martian' has a new novel out...'Hail Mary'...

Problem with that, is the first book solves half your problems, and the second book solves half of what's left...(Down to 3/4 now, and the problem is, you will never get rid of all of your problems!!
