If you're into SF Space Opera, David Weber's Honor Harrington series are really good. It features a race of six legged feline-like empaths that adopt humans as their protectors.
Another of his series', Safehold, is an interesting series that shows what can happen when an android gradually leaks tech advancements into a society where most tech advances are prohibited.

I really enjoyed the Honor Harrington series. I will go look at Safehold.

A big read (10 books dekology) is Mission Earth by L Ron Hubbard.
I enjoyed it as well.

On the SF topic, I like books that have some unique element where the world has taken a major turn from reality. A few I really liked were “The Mechanical” by Ian Tregillis. Three books in a world where the electronic revolution didn’t take off and a modern world is based on advanced chemical and mechanical engineering. Weapons are based on super high tech epoxies and they have created mechanical servants who become self aware.

Another really good one is “The Light of Other Days” by Stephen Baxter and Arthur C Clark. It’ll make you think.

W.E.B. Griffin. He wrote some great series about WWII, the Marines, Philadelphia PD, the OSS, etc.

Clancy, at least the stuff written by him. The spin offs, not so much.

James Michener... Learned a lot of history masquerading as fiction.

I would like to keep my physical books, but usually read on this now... kindle...I would at least like to be able to get the digital versions for my library. Unlike to re-read every few years.

I've been trying to read some of the classics, as well as revisit some which I've already perused. Moby Dick is lying around someplace where I set it down about 4 years ago... I've read that one before but man that's some dry reading. Tom Sawyer was a lot better, and shows the attitudes of people in Samuel Clemens' day. A few weeks ago I picked up "the Hunchback of Notre Dame" and started that; it may end up in the pile with Moby Dick. I was actually in the used book store looking for "Les Miserables", which I read years ago in 9th grade English class.

For a classic, The Count of Monte Cristo (the book) is well written.

Even though you may have seen the movie 10 times, the book is worth a read, much more engaging, more visceral.

I will have to check that out. I haven’t seen the movie, and would prefer to read a book than watch a movie, anyways.
