My favorite part is cleaning up. It's a challenge to get every last piece off the bench. It is tedious at times as we have so much that it is too easy to get so many items out, even extra fasteners add up. The salvation is I intentionally made it as easy to put away as drop it where it's used, it takes a little disciplined and if I am working with others tend to be mostly put away by the time the job is finished if I am paying attn.

I remember going to the Ice House with my Dad as a small boy in Texas.

Then I bet you also remember the Ice Man coming by twice a week to deliver a block of ice or two for the ice box? The Ice Man always had a big square leather pad over his back.
He and the mail man and the milk man definitely had a hard life.

Back then the Ice House wasn't a shack where one stopped for a beer or ten. That was where we'd go sometimes on weekends if we were going to make ice cream. It took a lot of ice to crank out a batch of ice cream.

Guess that's why we only made ice cream in the winter...

I was the go-fer. Go fer more icicles hanging off the roofs.

With the lack of insulation back then, the icicles were more the size of a leg than a carrot.

Did that drill press not come crank to raise and lower the bed? I like your upgrade!

I know my Delta press drill like that does not it only has a clamp the movement is just by sliding it up or down.

You would work well with my honey.
I put the tool down....she puts it away!
Then.....I wonder where it went, because I immediately need it again.

btw, when the neighbor uses stuff or gets out too much for one tool he piles them at his feet and stands on 'em while leaning under a hood.

(He may be part goat, but I'm not.)

Not having a geared table lift is “okay” until you have a heavy drill press vise and workpiece clamped on it. LOL.

My Clausing is a fine piece of machinery, but unfortunately the table is not geared.

Me too... because it means I finished the project. My problem is completely finishing projects. Seems that last few details take me the longest to complete and as such all the tools, hardware, scraps, and stuff are all over the place and I don't have a place to set any more 'stuff' on my workbench.
