Adding ballast in tires: Is this something you do yourself or a dealer has to do it?

Local tire shop did mine, some dealers do have it available, mine doesn’t.

The dealer can add , or you can do yourself.
Matters if you want beet juice or windshield washer fluid.
Youtube is your friend for instructions.

So I went and test drove a 1723EB model. Was impressed - played around with the FEL and BH. Had dealer price out a 1723EB with a 60" deck. Going over my figures now. May go for the 0% for 84 months.

So what are others getting for discounts off MSRP? 10% - 15%??

Hi Tibadoe, if I read that right, you got 3 acres and mow one of them. I would get the one with the backhoe if I were you, you'll find plenty of use for it to justify the cost. Makes great ballast, too. I don't fill my tires, tractor does fine with just the backhoe as ballast.

Like Momower said, ssqi loader is what you want for sure. The 60" deck is real nice, that's what I have.

Forks are handy, but you could get them later, as well as box blade, etc. Google "ratchet rake" sometime, it's a cheap implement on the loader, but you could do quite a bit with it.

Thanks for the input. I first wanted just the 1723E model - just didn't want the cost addition of the EB. But after test driving one and 0% interest - I figured I couldn't go wrong. Already have forks, so the box blade is the first on my list - I'm pricing around now.

Thanks

I was right around $23k for my EB with a 60” deck and SSQA forks. No idea what that is as far as %. But I do unfortunately appear to be in a more expensive region for pricing.

I could only get down to $21500 for the EB and 60" deck before tax. I guess I don't have much other choice unless I want to drive 70+ miles.

Yes, I also at first was just looking at the gc1705 (w/o the hoe), didn't think I would use it much on my 2.6 acres. I found a low hour gc1710 with the 60" deck and some few extras, figured why not, good deal and all. Man, I've been surprised how handy that backhoe has been!

But, I think $21,500 with the deck only is on the high side.

That doesn’t sound like a bad price.

Thanks MoMo: I went through the numbers and I can live with it. Asked salesperson to throw in all the filters needed for the first service - so that is covered. All is good to go and tractor will be delivered Monday. Now to start my shopping for attachments. Already compiling a list to make my shopping easier.

Sure wish they had a manual in a PDF format so I can get a head start on my reading.

Everyone have a good evening.

What's everyone's thoughts on the different tire treads? Tractor is coming with AG tires but I wanted the Industrial Tires instead. But now after thinking about it, I may want to keep the AG's. At first I was concerned with them tearing up my lawn when mowing. But I have been using them on my Toro 314 with no issues. Thinking if I take some care I will be OK.

May I ask which dealer?

I would want the R14s at this point but you should also be fine with R1s

Curious, any details on why you prefer the R14s?

They appear to be a better all around tire than the R4.

But that opinion is based on threads here and other reviews (you tube, etc).
