The ground is so hard. It's just dirt, but it's pretty dense. I was pounding on the dirt, sitting on the post hole digger, hitting it with a pick. it's all dirt, but 3 76,000lb trucks came through a day after it rained and didn't leave a rut. Starting pickets tomorrow.

Got my first section up today. Aside from the post holes through rock hard clay, everything else was easy and fairly quick.

Why are you putting up a fence in what looks like the middle of your lot? And do you heat with fuel oil?

Fence goes from side of house to the property line where there's a 8' privacy fence on all 3 sides of the property. it's behind all those arbor vitae on all 3 sides of the property line.

I heat primarily with wood, but have oil for spring/fall when the the wood stove would give to much warmth. My hot water is also furnace driven.

Getting back to the meat of it, i need to plan my equipment lift for hte second floor. I want this to have 2000-3000lb lifting capacity, possibly more. I can completely fill the exterior and interior walls which will support the lift platform housing the lift box, but I want to remain sane. I was also considering a 2x 9' 4" I beam to span and support the lift box. I need to figure out if I have the appropriate weight distribution though.

For your equipment lift, how about using the boom from fork lift? Simple pump and switching to power. Get a plate to mount on forks. Plenty of lifting power and should be able to find a non running truck pretty cheap!
