Are you collecting rain water in a storage tank? It took me a minute to figure out what that brown pipe was for on the side of your house.

Yes, I have a tank on each side of the house for collection. Currently it is just for landscaping but I might get a filtration system someday to use it inside.

Thanks! On average we get about 14 inches a year, with most of it coming in August.

That is actually more than I thought you get out there. Here in Michigan, we average 32 inches a year. I imagine you cork up as much as you can, when it does rain!

I finished the floor upstairs and then started the railing. Then I went to get my 4 grandsons for a 2 week stay, so any further work is on hold.
It was a challenge eating those 16 foot rim joists up there by myself.

I'm wondering what the boardwalk is made of.
I'm thinking it could be the pressure treated pine which (in the west) comes brown, or since you're in the desert it could be regular pine that's been stained. Either one then had a top coat of something put on.

How old are your grandsons? Are they old enough to put to work? You could be done with this project in a week!!!
