That is a good point, I noticed my MX4800 with R1 tires doesn't have the guards.

I'll need to look on my new L60 series. It has R4 tires but also has position-adjustable rims. I can see the guards on the front rims, but on the back it appears the valve stems are on the inside.

Those wheels are not reversible if you have typical tapered lugs. You can pull one lug to determine if they are on correctly.

My 2720 wheels are reversible.

I wanted to close the loop.
The rimguard dealer ended up ordering an adapter hose and was able to fill the tires mounted as is. All said and done it cost me with tax only $232.
win win.
