Well, a couple questions... I bought my new Kubota B2650 with a QH10 quick hitch and grader scraper. I get the way it works. I really like the idea, but it’s a real pain in the you-know-what to unhook an implement!

Question #1:
Will this get better as things wear in a bit? I release the locks, but it often doesn’t want to drop out from under the implement pins.

Question #2:
I just picked up a Woodmaxx flail mower. Their website claims it is QH compatible, but I am unable to figure this out. Doesn’t look like it’s going to fit due to the upper pin height. Am I missing something? I intend to call Woodmaxx tomorrow for their input. Maybe I need to buy another part?

Pictures are worth a thousand words. QH compatible means they spaced the pins out in accordance with cat 1 QH spacing. Some quick hitches top hook is too close to the QH and needs to be replaced with one that pokes out a bit further to slide on and off. This could also explain why your box blade doesn't release easily. I have a different QH with a bolt on/pin on top link hook that I replaced that stuck out further and it fixed all my issues. My box blade wouldn't release either until I made this change.

Are you using a pair of 'bushings' on the lower implement pins?

1. I have not found that to be the case. I have a QH15 on each of my tractors. I use spacers or bushings on the implement pins to get a good fit so they don't rattle or move around. The 3PT is power up, not power down. I do have to give it a tap occasionally to get it to drop. The more rust on the spacers the worse it gets so I am prepared to replace the spacers. They are pretty cheap at my local TSC.

2. With a good torch and welder you could make every implement compatible with your QH, so you can back up and hook up without leaving the seat. I think the term QH compatible is misleading as even my Land Pride implements have different top hook heights. That is why I bought the QH15 with an adjustable top hook. I hook up the bottom hooks and then get off to set the top hook. I usually have to get off to connect the PTO shaft and adjust the toplink so it is no big deal to me.

I’ll get a couple of the QH, but I gave up and removed it so I could install the flail. It didn’t seem like the upper hook needs to move back. Looks like it needs to raise up about 3-4”. The lowers will engage, but the upper hook is too low...

And then I had to fight the **** out of it to get the lower hooks to let go...

No. The pins appear to be the correct diameter. Fill in the gaps nicely. It’s a LP QH with a LP QH-approved grader scraper. Both brand new. Flail is different brand. Website says it should work...

FM62. Only has one upper pin location, which is a horizontal slot that allows the mower to rock.

It looks like it needs the second pin located below it, like my grader scraper has. Just a touch frustrating when the manufacturer claims it fits...

The general consensus seems to be modify implement to fit whatever configuration your QH is... Most QH have adjustable top hook that should move up or down according to whatever implement you are hooking up... The joke here is having to move hook, it no longer makes it "quick"... I mod all my implements and whatever to fit basic QH configuration for all my CAT 1 implements to this standard.....



Some people have ditched the bolts that hold the top hook to QH frame for pins that can be quickly moved.... If you top hook is rigid mount to frame work you are probably going to have redesign each implement mounting to be compatible or abandon the QH concept and resign yourself to do "hook up" individually for each implement...

It's been my observation, both via mounting my own 3PH implements and numerous TBN threads, that the width of/between the bottom two pins are fairly standard (at least for Cat 1). The top-link height and/or position on the implement is the point where the discrepancies occur.

My JD iMatch 3PH quickhitch (2013 purchase) has a rigid, fixed, non-adjustable top-hook and I've had to use an adaptor on several of the implements to get them to fit. The bottom two pins (with bushings) have always fit perfectly.

Adjustable 'quickhitch' top-hooks are now fairly common and have become so because of the variances in top-link height/position.
